Went in only second week of opening. The welcome was friendly and helpful. The food and service were excellent and not at all expensive. The owner is Belgian and his wife is Maltese which adds interesting dimensions to the menu.

“New Restaurant opened by catering teacher.”
Reviewed June 9, 2011

Stayed at Simon Says and ate here on the Monday night. Small friendly restaurant (28 covers), with a mix of mediterranean and belgian cuisine - Chef is Belgian, wife is Matese. Small but good menu. Quality of the food is very good as you might expect from a catering tutor and the value is as good with what can be generally found elsewhere in the local area. There are a couple of pricey exceptions. Restricted opening hours at the moment but this will soon change when the school term ends and chef gives up teaching to run the restaurant full time. Well worth a visit, especially if you are staying at Simon Says bed and breakfast next door. Three courses and a bottle of wine came to 74euros.

“Amazing find in Gent!”
Reviewed June 9, 2011

The atmosphere was great with just the right amount of lighting; not too bright, not too dim. Enjoyed first class food at very reasonable prices. The antipasti were sooo... good! The veal served with a salad was delicious. It was obvious that the chef only used very fresh ingredients. The desserts lived up to the same high standards. Good choice of wine, again at good prices. The service was friendly and helpful. I recommend it wholeheartedly.

“WHawww, food and place to really enjoy dinner in relaxed atmosphere”
Reviewed June 8, 2011

a few steps from "Patershol" you find "Villa Bardon" at a little trendy square next to coffeebar and bed and breakfast " Simon Says".
You eat great at Villa Bardon: starters mediteranian style,
fish, meat all coocked perfectly, desserts to lick you fingers.
All this in a cosy restaurant and spontaneous atmosphere.
I'm looking forward to go back and enjoy the terras of Villa Bardon.
The design is fully the idea of the hosts Anna and Maarten Van Steen,
congratulations, keep going.
