Excellent French restaurant in Ghent’s historic district. We more or less stumbled upon this restaurant by accident whilst walking around Ghent on a summer evening in June. It is situated in a cosy little street away from the more touristy parts of the city. My wife and I ordered a three course menu for € 35,=. We could choose from several dishes for each course. As an appetizer we both ordered a shrimp pana cotta, which was excellent (if it is still on the menu, highly recommended!). My wife had a black-tea-crusted whitefish as a main dish, while I had a heavenly entrecôte with sauce béarnaise. For dessert we both ordered sabayon with strawberries. All dishes were made from fresh ingredients of high quality and were prepared really well. Staff was friendly and polite and their service was efficient, so we did not have to wait long between courses. Looking back on our one week vacation in Belgium, Le Petit Restaurant in Ghent was one of the best restaurants we had dinner at. If we ever visit Ghent again, we will surely have dinner here again too.
