What a delightful dining experience; masterful preparation on a limited premium ingredient menu, lovely service, charming room, and a very fair bill for the exceptional quality of the ingredients. We're confused by the strange negative commentary on Tripadvisor regarding steep price or "cutesy" decor - couldn't have disagreed more. This family-run winner (husband in the kitchen, wife handling the dining room) was pitch-perfect beginning to end. Choice of two entrees, plus soup, choice of three mains, choice of two desserts, for €34. In our view, extremely reasonable, particularly for one of the top neighborhoods in a deservedly popular tourism destination. Our meal didn't miss a step; clearly they serve only the best based on what was available that morning. We had fantastic red mullet, halibut, duck, the cabbage soup was genius, even the dessert trio scored, particularly a shaken iced cappuccino and one of the best creme brûlées I've had - and I'm frankly bored with creme brûlée in general so this take was a welcome surprise. Terrific meal, highly recommended.

Living in Gent we visited several restaurant and I have read many reviews on this one restaurant.

Entering the restaurant it's small which should not be bad but when using the name valentine I did expect a warm romantic atmosphere. We were a party of 4 and all of us did not get this impression. Instead we found the atmosphere rather cold. The woman that welcomed us, apparently one of the owners, also did not give us a very friendly welcome, more formal, distant in other words cold.

The food, we had duck, fish, steak. The quality of the food was different from dish to dish. Duck and fish were good, good quality. The steak, the most expensive on the card was of rather poor quality. You would expect very tender meat, but it was not. It also lacked any seasoning salt of pepper.

The service in general was not very fast.

Will we go back ? no. Reason: lack of warm atmosphere. Prices are also to high for what is being offered. Unfortunately we think this restaurant is overrated here on tripadvisor.

This restaurant is a must if you are visiting Ghent and it is certainly an ideal venue for couples. Ok, the heart-shaped lamps, canvasses, dishes and love songs on loop were at first a little cheesy, but we were won over by the intimate atmosphere (it's very small, I would advise booking) and delicious food. I also think this restaurant, unlike others we experienced in Bruges, was good value for money. They offer a 'special' menu of two starters, a main and a dessert for 35 euros, and that menu plus an aperitif, wine throughout the meal and coffee at the end, for 55 euros. We went for the latter and it was well worth it. I would highly recommend.

Located in the beautiful old Patershol area of Ghent. We booked for Dinner on a Wednesday evening and I'm so glad we made a reservation, the place is very small and every table was taken when we arrived. The waitress/owner is excellent and gets around all the customers without you waiting, she speaks good English and French and on the evening we were there had a some help from her small daughter. The atmosphere is very romantic and I'd recommend it for couples. They serve a set menu, which they seem to prefer you to choose from and a small a la carte. We had the a la carte, my Beef Carpaccio was melt in the mouth, next we both had Red Mullet, beautifully presented and perfectly cooked, desserts were equally good. The whole evening, ambience and food were excellent and I would love to return.
