Good sized room, lovely old hotel, very friendly and helpful staff. Cycle friendly. The breakfast was excellent and they even went so far as to turn on the coffee machine early and provide some breakfast well in advance of the normal hours. No lift. Small secure parking but at extra cost.

This hotel is really stylish, all rooms are equipped with typical classical belgian furniture, they have a good and friendly service, bus and metro are only 100 m away, 15 min walk to the center of Ghent. The hotel even has a fitness room. The only cautionary note is: there is no elevator and there are 70 steps to the 3rd floor.

Room Tip: Room 1A in first floor is really stylish with a kind of roman bathroom

The aptly named Charme Hotel is a listed building and retains all the old world characteristics and charm. The bedroom was spacious and we loved the antique furniture, and yet the room was still perfectly functional. Breakfast was nice with a good choice of breads, cheeses and pastries, with scrambled egg for those who wanted something hot. We arrived very early but the staff were extremely helpful and courteous, showing us where we should park and where to pay, and how to get around Gent and see the sights. The hotel was just 10 minutes walk from the central area. We would definitely stay at the Charme Hotel again.

Perfect location for visiting Ghent. Could not find any faults. Can not recommend this fine hotel highly enough. You step into a world of Romanticism when you walk in the front door . We could not resist nestling ourselves in front of the very inviting open fire in the foyer and sipping our first beverage in Ghent whilst chatting with our charming hostess .. who we found most helpful in taking the time to share her well rounded knowledge of the area with us in a very gentle hospitable way. Very central and convenient . Short walking distance from all bars, restaurants and viewing sights. Great Help Yourself breakfast of various breads, fruits, yogourts, jams, meats, cereals, juices, eggs and bacon etc in spacious old period dining room. Very spacious bedroom with all appliances including tea/coffee making facilities and with the most comfortable mattress for a good nights rest.
We had a small problem with safe in room and after seeking help was attended to immediately by the owner who we also found to be extremely welcoming and friendly in every way. This holel was a Merchants house that is being slowly renovated by this young couple and is a credit to them . We read reviews before we booked about the noise of wooden floors. We did not have any problem here . Simple tip: 'Thread lightly' ..as its us that create the noise , not the floors.
We are looking forward to our visit again in a few years and will definitely be booking The Charme Hancelot Hotel.
