“Great setting, patchy cleanliness, awful doors !”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 23, 2012

The setting is great if you want some peace and quiet (with the door exception). The grounds are really nice, the terrace is great and the bar decor is too. The pool looks new. The rooms were average with a mini tv and the corridor carpets were nothing short of dissgusting on floor 2. The worst thing was the room doors which when being closed made a real heavy clunking noise! You could probably hear anyone on your floor leaving/entering their room...pity

I wasn't expecting this.
A very nice hotel located in the woods, which gives a sense of evasion. You're surrounded by trees and mountains, a 10 minutes rides from the center of Dinant. It's like you're in another city all of a sudden. The room was spacious and luxurious and very neat and clean. Breakfast was delicious, so many choices, from eggs and bacon to cereals and fruits. The staff is really nice and helpful. It's great time to go and visit Dinant, there's this Disney sand sculptures festival.
Funfact : Like me don't get tricked, once in your room you have to insert your roomkey into a little box for the light to go on. Very green friendly, but if you don't know, you go back to reception and say "Um sorry I think I don't have electricity in my room lol"

The setting is glorious, a grand house hidden away in a wood with stately grounds. We had great difficulty finding it, despite a modern satnav and written directions. There is a small car park next to the entrance, but the main one is a tidy step away. The place has a sad air of faded glory, with tired furnishings and poorly maintained fittings. Our room, and our friends' rooms were all tiny, barely big enough to accommodate a double bed. The en suite shower room, more a cupboard really, was very small with no room for two. The promised bottled water was missing and took some time to materialise. One night was more than enough!

The setting of the hotel in the landscape is beautiful, as are the vast hotel grounds with old trees, bushes and meadows (and some garbage that could be cleaned). The sitting room and the reception area of the hotel are nice, with interesting wood carvings. That's the nice part.

Else, the hotel is more a 2-star than the 3-star that it is rated at:

- Reception: the receptionist clearly did not want to be there...the receptionist of the next day was a bit friendlier, but not that much...
- Hallways: very smelly, the ugly dark carpet has many big spots and was clearly not vacuumed
- Room: also smelly, carpet the same. When we got to the bathroom one of the towels was hanging half in the garbage bin and long strands of hair of a previous guest were on the floor.
- Restaurant: the food was not very good and not very good-looking
- Pool: walls around the pool were grimy, lounge-chairs dirty. There were no towels and when I asked for one at the reception I was told to use the same as in the room (being green is great, but to dry myself with the towel that was on a dirty lounge-chair is just gross)

Else, service, breakfast, terrasse area where average.

Set in a very beautiful and peaceful location this hotel offered us an excellent room, with all you could want in our opinion.Cleaning was to a high standard and with air con it was very comfortable. The hotel grounds are most enjoyable and easy to relax in, as was the whole hotel.
The staff were pleasant and helpful. The buffet breakfast was superb and offered a good selection.Dinner was well presented and tasty. Bar prices as in many places in Europe are steep.
Would certainly stay here again.

We have just returned from a 4 night tour and stay at the Best Western Dinant and was extremely disappointed in the location, food and staff. It was the worse Hotel I have ever stayed in. The Breakfast was of poor quality, very little variety, and not enough to go round! As we were part of Shearings English tour group I was astonished to find that they had sent us to a Hotel where the staff didnt speak or even wanted to speak English but were happy to take our money. The snacks were over priced £12.50 for Cheese on Toast. The kitchen closed at 9.30pm so dont expect any late nite snacks. The hotel is in the middle of a forest, if you want to hide away its the perfect place but if you want to see a little life at night or walk into the town... forget it! They dont have a courtesy bus you need to have a car. Oh yes! you are only allowed one bar of soap and bubble lotion per stay... ... Sorry but its not for us...

I stayed here for two nights last summer with a large studen tour group. The scenery around Dinant was absolutely breathtaking. It is one of the most peaceful places I have ever been. Even though I wasn't driving, it seemed quite difficult to get to (especially in a tour bus), but it is completely worth it. The hotel, rooms, and restaurant were all lovely (more like a resort than a hotel), but the best part of this hotel is all the outdoor adventure it provides. It has a pool, tennis court, a few put-put holes, and countless nature trails. You can get lost just taking the trails through the woods. They are well marked, though. If you are looking for a beautiful, serene place to get away, you must stay here.
