From the check-in to check out one is met with friendly smiles. It reflects the service attititude of all personnel and staff. You are treated as if your request is more important than any other. Good value for money all round.

This was a nice hotel but to be honest whilst there was nothing particularly wrong during our stay there was nothing spectacular either. Calling the hotel city centre is a little misleading. Anything you would want to go to is a taxi ride away. The room was fine, the breakfast was average and the staff were generally friendly. Average describes what it is. I would not mind staying here again but I am sure there are better placed and more memorable hotels in Liege.

Expensive and not really the city centre. Neighborhood a bit rough also.
Breakfast just ok. Very poorly prepared for f1 weekend volume. Staff were nice bar one receptionist. Bar was poorly stocked and pricey and restaurant menu poor for a four star hotel.

We very nearly cancelled our booking here after reading a previous review but I am so pleased we didn't. We stayed just one night here as it was a convenient place en route back home from Germany. We found our way into the secure car park for which a charge of 10 euros per day is made. The car park is covered by CCTV which is comforting.
The reception is large and airy with many comfortable seats around and also a bar area where it is possible to buy smaller meals and snacks eg pizza. There is a nice terraced area to sit outside also.
Our check in was efficient but certainly not effusive. The man was very pleasant but the girl was rather 'dour' However she did the job and checked us in.
There are 3 lifts so no problem waiting for lifts to get to the upper floors.

Our room was spotlessly clean. Pillows and bedding were dressed in fresh white linen and were very comfortable. The room was hot but soon cooled down when we put the air con on. Even though we were on the 6th floor it was still possible to fully open the windows too.

Bathroom was small but adequate. Tea and coffee making facilities were given too.

It was nice to have the use of a safe . An iron and board would have been useful.

I would have given the hotel 5 star had it not been for 2 things.
1. There was no fridge which is really a necessity in all hotel rooms and
2. The area the hotel is situated in is not very pleasant

With regard to No2 above, we decided to go for a walk but only went a short way before turning back. As an older couple we would not have felt comfortable walking in that area at dusk or after dark.
We left our window open for sleeping but had to close it about midnight due to the very loud shouting and screaming coming from nearby flats/ houses. This was remedied on closing the window though.

Breakfast was served in an old part of the hotel in an absolutely charming room. There was a huge selection to choose from including cereals, meats, cheese, bacon , sausages, eggs, potatoes, fruit, juices to mention a few. The girl in the breakfast room was charming and very helpful.

As a hotel to stay in for comfort I would highly recommend this hotel but I would not recommend it as a base for sightseeing especially after dark.

The marks on my photos are not dirt. I had a fault with my camera.

Dear Guest,

Thank you so much for taking the time to post your comments on your stay in our hotel. Only by taking these into account can we improve our service. Concerning the iron and the board, it's on demand just asking the reception. We only have fridge in our executive rooms.
I hope whenever you decide to come to Liège again you will consider our hotel for accommodations.

Best regards,

Please be advised that the Reception of the Ramada Plaza has been given the original written list of faults/complaints regarding the quality of our room, and in the hope that it doesn't get put into the bin, I have taken the decision to list them here:
I led a party of 17 persons from the UK. The front desk was not manned upon arrival (1530) and it took two of us several calls before someone came from the back office to Reception. There was a blank look as to the whereabouts of the "Welcome drink;" it was later served as an aperitif with our evening meal. A choice of main dish was also not available (as previously agreed) and the main meal appeared to have been plated for some while and kept hot prior to serving. The chicken thigh was toughened and shrivelled in appearance. A plus point was that my daughter was able to have her chicken without the sauce and for dessert was given an Ben & Jerry's ice-cream instead of the quasi eton mess lookalike.
Most of our group were placed in rooms along the same corridor on the third floor. In the lift on the left hand side the left panel of buttons didn't work, which was frustrating for the more mature of our group who kept finding themselves at Ground. In the corridor there was a flurry of staff from the Housekeeping who were just finishing the rooms. It really was quite surreal as though they hadn't expected us, really strange.
Our room was 327. The noise from outside was dampened by sleeping with the window shut. The air conditioning wasn't brilliantly effective. There was an attractive little band of material across the top pillow with a note to advise that the pillow was "firm". (Perhaps that is what makes it 4 Star!) The bed sheets were too small, they came away when the duvet was drawn back; the carpet had two significant stitched repairs in a colour not of the same pattern; a large scratch across the dressing table. No pen to complete the card for advising Reception of problems. Only one bottle of water at our bedside. Both the bath and sink plug refused to contain the water; irksome when you are having a bath! The edge of the bath wasn't clean in the corners, which is turning pink and black with bacteria; the edge of the sink was chipped; the towels were extremely worn with threads wearing away at the edges, one was of a cream colour; the shampoo dispenser was empty. Plus the bathroom was really small and cramped! Toiletries to hand were a small bar of soap and a complimentary small bottle of hair shampoo.
There were coffee making facilities (located where there has been a fridge previously). No breakfast tea or chocolate available and only powdered creamer offered. No biscuits etc.
The Porter services were not visible nor offered to any of our group, who's ages ranged from 50yrs to 89yrs.
Our evening meal was in the restaurant to the rear of the building, which has an impressive ceiling. I do wish though that Reception staff had been more obliging in coming forward to advise us where to go! Making an appearance only when I was overheard to say "I simply can't understand what makes this hotel qualify for 4 Star rating!" isn't good enough.
Breakfast is located in another restaurant on the first floor. No hot chocolate available from the machines (which is unusual for a European hotel in my experience); the omelettes were so leathery in taste and difficult to cut so were left; the ciabatta bread had such a hard crust it was a strong jaw required to chew! It was surprising that neither loaf had been started. The pastries were perfect as was the fresh fruit. Maria the Italian waitress at breakfast was extremely diligent and a refreshing experience to the staff at Reception.
This hotel is on the river front and can be a pleasant walk to the centre of Liege shopping (approx. 1.4km). Be warned that the pavements are ankle breakers, so I wouldn't recommend wearing heels ladies!
Finally to cap it all, having placed our baggage against the wall; it simply was a joke to retrieve one of the bags (made of cloth) and have a brick fall off the wall at the skirting level.
This is a hotel which has been "boutiqued" if such a word exists. Given that our journey included 3 hotels; one of which was in Belgium, then comparing the two, it is the other which should be 4 Star and not 3; based on quality of service; quality of housekeeping; quality of food and quality of staff. I wouldn't pay the prices for this hotel again. I wouldn't take another group here. I wouldn't return. It is some distance to the town centre, which isn't at first obvious from the town map. Shame as the shopping prices are extremely good.
