“excellent hotel!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 22, 2012

When i went to ramada plaza in Liege, the first thing I noticed was the nice and big hotel lounge. The receptionist was very friendly and she told me how to walk to the city centre, and she asked me if i wanted anything else. I needed to know where the conference hall was and she explained it to me. The staff seemed very friendly.

I came into my room and there was a fantastic view over the river, the only problem was, that because i was very near the city centre, there was a busy road.

When i went to bed, the first thing i felt were the good pillows and the nice matras. I had it a bit warm but i could have turned on the air-conditioning.

The breakfast was fantastic, and so was dinner the evening before.

i finessed in the fitness building. There isn't a swimming pool or spa in the hotel.

Overall the only slightly negative point in this hotel the noise from the road. I think all in all It is excellent value for money. A great hotel, with kind staff and lovely food.

Room Tip: rooms that aren't on the street side are much quieter

Last week I spent a couple of nights at Ramada Plaza due to a business trip to Liege. The hotel is comfortable, staff is friendly and the rooms are spacious and nicely decorated. This hotel is situated in the city center and has its own parking behind the building. I enjoyed staying here!!

A honest four star hotel.
You will find (almost) everything what you would expect from a four star hotel.
Large spacious rooms, with a bench that you could work for some time.
Two free WiFi networks of torturing slow speed. Suitable for email checking and light web browsing but not for files downloading and video or audio streaming.
Poor amenities: just soap, dispenser on the wall for shampoo and bath foam.
Two free small bottles of water per day, water boiler, coffee and tea packs available in the room. No mini-bar though.
Quite clean but since the windows don't open, the rooms are smelly, even though they are non-smoking.
Avaredge breakfast but very overpriced. It certainly doesn't worth the 15 euro, but there are no alternatives.
Quite overpriced car parking (10€), but certainly is not safe at all to park on the street.
The neighborhood is quite deserted during the night and you have to take a 5-10 min walk to downtown for food, drink or shopping.
The whole hotel is non-smoking.
The front rooms have better view but are more noisy from the street.
Avoid the rooms on the corridor of the first and second floor because a lot of people will pass in front of your door to go to breakfast of to conference hall.

Have a nice stay.

Room Tip: Avoid 1st and 2nd floor because may be noisy. Try high floor rooms at the back.

Stayed here when it used to be the Bedford many yearss ago. Dinning rooms still have the cloister effect from the days when it used to be a Convent.
Stayed one night with excellent evening meal and wonderful breakfast hot and cold.

We stayed the End-of-Year night at this hotel. Far too small room for that category - one had to squeeze oneself between bed and wall + television to get on the other side of the bed. Passage was further encumbered by huge sustaining pillar right next to the bed. No cupboard with shelves. Light fixtures erratic - when putting out the bathroom lights, the room lights went on, and vice versa. Sheet and blanket too small for bed size. Plumbing so-so: washbasin did not drain properly. No individual washing amenities one expects in such a place. Our room was looking out on the river Meuse - front of the hotel. We could barely sleep because of the traffic noise: totally inadequate soundproofing.

But the worst experience was the so-called breakfast buffet. This insufficiency, which would be qualified as scandalous even in a one-star hotel, has been amply documented in other reviews. Let me sum this up: even when arriving on time - in our case three quarters of an hour before 'closing time' - practically no more bread fillings could be found, the cooked food had all been consumed, etc. It took some loud protestations from our side to have the staff in charge come up with cheese and delicatessen - all of inferior, cheap supermarket kind. The cooked food was never replaced - and the small morsel of scrambled eggs we could 'salvage' tasted of cardboard. The bread toaster was barely functioning. This woeful lack of quality was characteristic of the whole 'buffet' - which should be called perfunctory at best. And, as we were still eating, the personnel started to clear dishes from under our noses and almost chased us away at 'closing time'.

How such a dismal hotel, under such circumstances, can survive is beyond imagination. And so is its recent 'Michelin' rating.

Lest one forgets: the woman at the check-in desk where we paid our bill was barely polite. Enough said.

Room Tip: If it is absolutely necessary to stay there, demand at least a room in the back. And get a room with...

For the foriegn traveler, you can't change money at the front desk, you need to find a bank or an ATM, both a good 20 minute walk away. Breakfast is minimal at this hotel. They onlyh cook just so much, so if you come late, past 9:30 for breakfast, you might have minimal pickings. for food.

Rooms are clean, internet is fast. beds comfortable.

Room Tip: Get a room away from the street noise.

Room and location ok. Reception: very unfriendly staff. Breakfast: poor buffet (no 4stars quality) poor choice; buffet not refilled regularly-we had to wait 15 min. for scrambled eggs. Tables were not cleared - after one hour tables were still full of dirty dishes; we had to move them ourselves! Only 2 coffee machines; one stayed empty all morning, nobody from staff refilled the water tank. Service unworthy 4 stars!
Reserved a double bed but they couldn't give it becaus the hotel was full...
