Owner description: The National Coal Mining Museum for England is a unique place where the history of mining over several centuries is preserved both above and below ground. Meet a miner and descend 140m underground on a unique mine tour.

Took 5 year old grandson & all really enjoyed underground tour. Paul kept children entertained and was just right amount of time. Would recommend it for anyone physically able. Will come again in summer to go round rest of site. Horrendous queues for lego so gave it a miss.

Had a fabulous day out, could actually not spend a thing, but happy to pay fee (refundable should you choose to) to spend over an hour of fun 'down pit', all staff especially 'Kebab' go the extra mile to make your trip fun and educational. Highly recommend+++

This was our second visit, this time we took our 5 year old nephew.
There was a Lego event at the museum and I think everyone was overwhelmed with the amount of people who had turned up.
The underground tour was fantastic, our guide was Paul and he really made it for our nephew. Highly recommended - already looking forward to our next visit.

Everything about this experience was fantastic, all the sights, the history, seeing all the old machinery, brilliant. What made it though were the tour guides, genuine love for what they do and full of stories and knowledge. Really engaging to all, great with kids and made all the info very relevant.

Thanks very much. At £2.50, it's the bargain of the year, anyone that claims the donation back at the end of the tour(which you can) wants to have a good long think!

21st Feb went with the grandchidren 9yrs and 5yrs.i went on the tour with grandson and he enjoyed every minute. The guide Kebab was very good and informative. Can't beleive they don't charge.Any other day out would cost a fortune for such informative pleasure. Well worth a visit, even without children. .
