The Casteau is getting old and tired, the rooms have seen better days but it still offers value and is by far the handiest hotel for walking back to from the bar in SHAPE. Not the place for romance but okay for business, the Mercure and Utopia are more modern and comfortable

Dear Sir
I thank you for your feedback.
I would like to inform you that we are busy to renovate all the rooms of the BEST WESTERN Hotel & Aparthotel Casteau Resort Mons. Actually, 70 of the 90 rooms have been renovated, so i suppose you didn't get a new one. All renovated rooms have new paintings, new beds with very confortable high standard mattresses, new curtains, new carpets, etc. I am sure that those rooms can match a lot of 4 stars hotels of the region now !
All rooms should be renovated till end of March !

We stayed in a standard room for five nights in September. The room was small and clean but always warm even with a window opened 24/7. The breakfast service was very good with fresh rolls, a variety of cheeses, fresh fruit and sweet rolls. Bar service presented a problem because the desk clerk was also the bartender so at times there could be a wait for service. There is no restaurant service in the hotel; however, the hotel had a list in English of near by restaurants. We ate three dinners at The Mediterranean restaurant located across the street from the hotel and enjoyed every dinner. We would stay at this hotel again but only in a "comfort" or higher level room. We did find the staff very helpful.

Room Tip: Only "comfort" or higher.t

Madam, Sir,
First of all, I want to thank you for your review..
It is very important to get the feedback of our customers so that we can improve.
I would like to inform you that we are busy to renovate all the rooms of the BEST WESTERN Hotel & Aparthotel Casteau Resort Mons. Actually, 70 of the 90 rooms have been renovated.
The "executive" (formally "confort" rooms are indeed larger, as they have a little sitting corner.
I am especially happy that you enjoyed the service of our staff.

We stayed for four nights with Leger Holidays (Grand Prix Trip 23 - 26 August). The hotel is very clean, rooms are adequate and breakfast (continental) is excellent. However there is no restaurant on site, only microwave snack meals at twelve euros. The hotel on the road close to the hotel was not open every night and was very expensive. There was another Mediteranean restaurant across the road but this was closed for holidays. We booked a taxi to travel to a Chinese restaurant approximately one mile down the road and this cost us twenty three Euros!! When we questioned this we were told by the drivers that we had to pay twenty euros for the taxi to come from Mons, the nearest town. We were very disappointed that the lady on reception when we booked the taxi did not inform us of this. Surely part of customer service would be to inform residents of information such as this! We walked back from the restaurant ( 15 minutes) and as it was the nearest place to eat the following night we walked again then! Had we been informed that there were no local taxi services we would have walked in the first place! The reception staff on duty when we returned did not appear to be bothered when we returned to the hotel and complained that we had not been informed that a twenty euro fee was charged on top of the fare for taxis to do local journeys. We would highly recommend the Chinese restaurant however which was good value and excellent food!
The hotel reception staff cover the small bar in the hotel too but when there are a lot of residents they do not appear to be prepared for this ie : poor service and warm bottled beer(not stocked up).The female receptionist in particular did not appear to want to be bothered serving drinks at the bar when asked. The hotel would attract more guests and make more profit if they offered evening meals and trained staff to improve customer service.

For a Best Western Plus hotel its not bad in terms of rooms, food and service. The only thing that needs improving is there is no air conditioning in the rooms.
The location isn't the best being located on a main road outside of Mons.
For a nights stay it does ok but this hotel wouldn't be my first choice.

We stayed for two weeks in the apartments. We recommend this place for long stays. Overall, a nice place with fair rates. They only lack one major item: no A/C!

The apartments really could use air conditioning. Temperatures got up to 30 degrees Celsius inside. It didn't help that the hallways weren't ventilated and I'm sure they were an additional 5 degrees hotter.

- Lots of parking
- Friendly staff

Would stay again, but ask for a room on the north side to avoid sun heating up room in the summer months.
