“trap”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 7, 2012

this place is a tourist trap,as for me unfortunately most on rue des bouchers!
this is where we payed the highest price during our trip though we ate in good places.at the end of our meal they said their machine was not working and so refused to give a bill.
they had a terrase but tried to seat the guests inside and keep the outside tables.

“Cheap but not good”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 15, 2012

We've eaten here before several years ago when the Rue des Bouchers offered some variety and fixed price menu deals were genuinely interesting and good value, not the rip-offs they've become. It's a shame to see how Au Boeuf qui Rit has declined though to its credit the waiter didn't try to persuade us to have the a al carte and even threw in a free drink. The menu's so cheap you can't really complain about the food but it wasn't great - moules overwhelmed by celery for some reason and a waffle out of a packet (it would surely have been cheaper to make them fresh?)plonked on the table as dessert. Service was efficient but there was a sense of them rushing us out.We tolerated it out of a sense of nostalgia but certainly wouldn't recommend it.

“Tourist Trap”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 7, 2012

We were walking down the street looking for a restaurant for dinner. Every restaurant has the same menu and harassing managers. We were stopped by the manager of this awful restaurant. He promised us a free drink. I asked for the menu, he took me by the arm and told me that it was the same everywhere and that the prices were also the same. We were tired of being harassed so we sat down. He brought our drinks right away to make sure that we can't leave anymore and then brought the menu. Every single dish was over 28 euros (except for the appetizers). We ordered a filet of beef (when we asked if this was filet mignon, the waiter said it was even better than filet mignon) and rack of lamb, each of which was 29,50 euros. The beef was overcooked and never as tender as filet mignon. Lamb was okay, but never worth the price. Once we sat down, the waiters stopped paying attention to us and service was very slow. We paid 60 euros for two very disappointing dishes and an overall very bad dining experience.

“Be on your guard with this one!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 20, 2011

If you choose to dine in Rue des Bouchers, you can probably tell that there is fierce competition between the restaurants, offering their prix fixe menus of roundabout the same kind of food. Yet, the salesmen at the front begging for your custom don't actually want you to eat from these menus. In fact, at this restaurant, he will do his utmost to stop you from even seeing this menu once you have sat down. He tried to force us into choosing from the hideously overpriced à la carte menu. Although the odd thing is that it's quite a laugh eating here and, as long as you're vigilant, you'll probably quite enjoy yourself and the food that you'll get is fine. As for the drinks, they will encourage you to choose the medium sized beer which is disproportionately priced to the small and large; the house wine was ghastly (if not watered down).
There was a large group of perhaps 15 that at first had been enticed in by the front-of-house man (who was revelling in his apparent success) who soon realised that they were going to be taken for a ride and all got up and left. It was worth eating here to see the look on the front-of-house man's face and to hear the joking and fun-making called across the street from his fellow restaurateurs. To top it all off, they tried to charge us for beers that we did not have, but once you put them straight, you dine pretty well for not a lot, in a great spot for people-watching.

“Run away !”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 1, 2011

I have difficulty in qualifying this establishment of restaurant. I see here that I am not the only one to have been stolen...
Prices on the bill did not correspond to what we had ordered.
According with this value for money, a fast food is 10 times better. Especially when you feel assaulted when we just come to eat and relax.
And it is true that the VAT is manipulated in their way and they insisted to be paid in cash ...
