Perhaps others make equally good frittes but this is THE Place! I recommend it even though you may have to queue for a short while and there are no seating… Well, just bring your cone of frittes (large I would get, and you feel full for a long time ) and walk to one of the adjacent bars and sit down, order a Trapist Belgian Beer and enjoy! Only avoid the few bars with “frittes not allowed signs”. A myriad of sauces to choose among, wil take you a year or two to try them all!
For the tourists hanging around Grand Place, yes, this is not so close. But it is a chanse to get out of the center and visit the EU quarters, the cinquantenaire park etc.

Although the Fries at Maison antoine aren't bad nor too pricy, the place is just a massive tourist trap and depends on the references it got in travel guides that haven't done the effort to find out what else there is on offer. I admit it's not easy to find good fries in Brussels, although there are quite a couple that are at least as good as Maison Antoine (without the horrendous queues). Its fries aren't any better than whatever an average belgian village' friterie has for sale. Moreover, its quality is steadily decreasing as clients keep coming anyway, and most are single time tourist visitors, so delivering quality became less important. Skip the queues and use the time to explore some other neighborhood or find another good friterie that gives you a real Belgian experience.

This is the best place to try original Brussels frites. Portions are huge, and you can try your fries with a lot of sauces (I suggest you some spicey like samurai or pili pili sauce)... there is always a long queue, but it's worth it!! and when you have your frites, you can go to Park Leopold and eat them sitting in the grass, watching the lake and the swans.

In Belgium they take their chips seriously. Often 3 times cooked, crisp outers, soft inners. Oh yes! And of all the fritteries in Brussels this has got to be up there with the best. Not the happiest servers in the world, but hey, when you're only confronting them to guiltily order you frittes, with one of a wide range of accompanying sauces (from mayo to ketchup to strange concoctions I've never heard of). Then go and eat your chips at one of the nearby bars - it's encouraged as long as you order a drink. What better is there in life? Enjoy.

The queues tell you all you need to know: a local institution, great frites, great brochettes, and the adjoining bars are fine with you eating Antoine's food at their tables, if you order a drink. Totally without pretensions, and all the better for it. Fair, honest, and goid value.
