“Delicious food and friendly head waiter”
Reviewed August 1, 2012

What Marisol M has experienced, we sure experienced the opposite! I do empathised with her cos we had the same treatment in Chez Leon! We went there for dinner and was treated courteously and head waiter or supervisor...forgot his name, was real friendly. Ordered twin of shrimp & cheese croquettes(delicious),Pastilla salmon & green asparagus, tomato basil tagliatelle and Red mullets with citrus & seasonal vegetables....all delicious! Calm and quiet atmostphere.

“They don't like of foreing people and let it clear!”
Reviewed April 28, 2012 via mobile

My husband and I was walking around about 8 pm and decided to go in this restaurant that seemed to be nice. Our intention was drink something to meet the place.
First of all the smell was terrible, like durty bathroom.
When the staff came to take the order and we asked for a beer and a glass of wine he said that the place is a restaurant and we had to ask for food.
So than I asked for a soup, and my hasband didnt want anything because he is on a diet, than the staff said again "this place is a restaurat and you both must ask for the main plate too!!"
Jesus in heaven! We live in Sao Paulo and we frequently go to the best restaurants there, which are the best restaurants in the world and we never heard such absurd!
Than we left without drink or eat anything, which made the staff wery happy!

Thank you for this feedback - It is true that we are a restaurant and not a bar - we do only serve drinks with meals - I am very sorry if you felt not properly welcomed or confused by our waiter when he said that you had to eat something - The smell of mussels should have please you but apparently it was not the case - Best, Julien

“Excellent food, pleasant service and very good atmosphere”
Reviewed February 19, 2012

This review is only partially for Les Chapeliers since this restaurant is actually connected to The White Rose (I cannot recall the French name) and share a kitchen and staff. We were on the "Rose" side as the other was full. We were given a seat on the upper level, but near the window so we could see the square out front. I had the rabbit and my wife the steak and we fond both to be fantastic. The rabbit was perfect with a fantastic sauce. My wife's steak was cooked medium well (as she asked) yet it was still quite tender. The music in the background was very good, but not too loud, making the atmosphere quite nice. Even the prices were reasonable given the location. I would be more than happy to return here if we are back in Brussels.

“Warm, Quiet with excellent Belgium Food”
Reviewed December 13, 2011

Just off the Grote Markt (North east corner) is Les Chapeliers (Hat factory) behind a wooden facade is a warm space that welcomes you. Hats (old fashioned bowlers and top hats) hang from the ceiling of this establishment which was once, indeed, a hat factory. My Belgium colleague who was with our party of 6 pronouned it neither French nor German ...but true Belgian cuisine (said as if this were a rarity!).

Our party ordered onion soup, a beef stew (apparently a Belgian specialty- hearty and good on this cold late November night), vegetable soup (ditto the last remark!) , Beef filet (pronounced tender and great), Salmon and fricaseed rabbit (I took a bite and it was tasty).

The waiter was excellent- choices of excellent French white and red wines. We all passed on desert. Highly recommend this very nice place!
