We have lived in Belgium over 20 years and just found this restaurant last night on a stroll through the city. It is a very typical Brussels brasserie: good fresh food, the waiter wasn't fussed with my gluten intolerance, service was friendly but not over the top. They were very busy, but attentive. Yes the tables are close, the staff are having a banter, but all together we had an enjoyable evening. The food was fresh, very tasty, sizzling hot, the white wine very cold, a good range of beers, and delicious desserts. We had the creme brûlée and an apple granité with Calvados. We will definitely be back.

Yes indeed, the service might not be friendly, the prices too steep and the tables too close to each other ... but somehow de l’Ogenblik gets to you (or, at least, got to me) ... and the reason is probably the never disappointing food!

Expect a rude reception. Waiters are unfriendly. Ours totally misunderstood our order, made in comprehensible French: as a couple we ordered one starter and two main courses, but only the starter and one main arrived (after a long wait). When we realised that the waiter had forgotten about the second main course, we decided to cut our losses and leave, seeing how slow the service was. Even then we didn't get out for less than 60 euros. The ambiance feels authentically old, but the tables are squashed together and the kitchen can obviously not cope with the number of customers. The food was OK.

You could hardly call it service. The waiters treated us with disdain. They were rude and insulting when we asked about our starters which hadn’t been served an hour after ordering them. They obviously make no effort whatsoever to be pleasant to customers but because of the location they will probably not have to worry about a steady stream of business. It’s a shame that the waiters choose to put their energy into mistreating customers instead of simply trying to be polite.

Strolling through Brussels to find a place to eat, we ran into this lovely place by chance (road ahead was closed, had to take a left into the Prinsengalerij). Lovely surroundings, authetic atmosphere. Service friendly, great food and wine.
