Description: La Porte des Indes is widely celebrated as the best Indian restaurant in Brussels. Set in a beautifully converted Ixelles mansion on the heaving Avenue Louise, La Porte des Indes is decorated in rich wood carvings, warm red-toned colour scheme, masses of flowers and lush plantings, and Colonial style Indian furniture. The costumed waitstaff make the setting complete. This is another success from the Blue Elephant group, so you know the ingredients are of the highest quality. See for yourself. Roam the menu and try dishes like specialities starter of Crab Malabar, a warm salad of flaked crabmeat and corn kernels, main course of something classic like fiery chicken vindaloo and finish with a palate-freshening mango sorbet. Wines are thoughtfully matched to the dishes.

This restaurant in the fashionable Avenue Louise area is not only great authentic food but with a Asian decor and indian-dressed service to add to the atmosphere. You could be in colonial India from the environment. All this pomp and splendour comes at a high price but for a birthday celebration like I had it was well worth the investment.

It took us quite a while to find this place but when we did, we were not disappointed. The decoration is sumptuous, the staff attentive without being obsequious and the food that we chose was delicious. Yes it is expensive - we spent about eighty pounds including Indian beers but we were there for two hours, didn't feel rushed at all and all aspects of the menu that we were unsure of were fully explained. It's something of a haven of tranquility in a very busy city.

The food is o.k.,service is also o.k. but prices are too high.
Not everyone can pat this.I think,it is more for people with enough money.
The decoration of the restaurant is too good.

I struggle to find places with a variety of vegetarian choices in Brussels. This restaurant offers great choices of a very high quality. The staff were lovely and everyone (meat eaters included) really enjoyed her meals.

I'm Pakistani in origin, so know from experience how Indian food should be presented and served.
This restuarant was hideously expensive, which I could forgive if the food was of a high standard, unfortunately, the food was incredibly bland and devoid of any spices.
A piece of advice for this restuarant, when preparing cerdible Indian food, spices should be mixed with the food - and not stored in sealed jars around the kitchen.
I will not be re-visiting.
