Old hotel. No air conditioning for warm summer days. Window was stuck closed. And worse, no fan in the loo. So, whatever happens in there becomes the ambiance of your room. Obtaining a bucket or bag of ice to chill some wine was such a chore for the bar staff that I gave up.

We were pleasantly surprised about this hotel, everything was really good. The room was big, clean and comfortable, which was important for us as far as we travelled with a kid. The staff was friendly and always willing to help. There was some problem with our entry card, but they solved the problem very quickly. The parking lot is for fee during the weekends.

The hotel is situated near the North Station in the "business" and better side of the Station. There is no restaurant, or supermarket that we could identify close to the hotel so you can only rely on the station and of course going to the city center if you want to eat or buy something.
I liked the space of the room and that it had an anteroom with a desk where you can put your laptop when you are working. Everything was clean, well kept, enough space for clothes. There were some small things: towels and lingerie a little worn-out, but clean; bed kept sliding on the flooring, but was comfortable; we had no soap, only 2 in 1 shampoo and body wash, but seemed good quality; we found it difficult that we didn't have fridge and neither a supermarket in the area. We had some issues with our access card, it kept deactivating probably because of being next to the phones... Personnel was nice and helped by storing our luggage after check out. I think it was good value for the money after all.

Very dated hotel. Looks like hotels from the 80's. No a/c, soap dispensers, my room was directly facing the window of another room.... For a hotel with no air condition, this make privacy in your room an issue. Ver slow reception service. Nothing near or around this hotel. Haven't stayed in many other hotels in Brussels, but I'm sure there are better options then this one.

Third or fourth time I've stayed here for work, decent price and guaranteed secure parking are two things that bring us back. Unfortunately there's no air conditioning and it's noisy outside.

What's really let it down this time is the free wifi, which is quite frankly appalling. No signal in the rooms, when you can get a signal, in the lift lobby, you can't log on because there are too many users. And with a poor mobile signal too, lack of connectivity has prevented some important work being done. We've had to go to a bar instead.

We took a chance on the Husa President Park Hotel based on the combination of affordable rates and decent pics/reviews from other travellers. In both respects, we weren't disappointed. The room was clean and looked nice. Staff was pleasant, spoke English and the location was fine (though we recommend sticking to the well lit streets, as some of the side streets can get a bit dark and some of the groups of young men loitering near the park caused us to heighten our attention to our surroundings).

All signs pointed toward this being a real find; and yet, there were just a number of detractors and strange things that cause us to give it only three "stars." Our room was located close to the elevators, which unfortunately meant that we could hear them every time they moved from floor to floor. While this wasn't a big issue in the middle of the night when there was little traffic, they actually woke us up in the mornings. Of course, we weren't sleeping all that well as "hard" doesn't begin to describe the bed. I actually have sore spots on my hips from lying on the thinly padded wooden boards for three nights.

In the category of "strange," we place the issue of the missing pillow cases. We were happy the first night to discover two extra pillows (in clean cases) in the wardrobe and used them for the first two nights. The third night, the cleaning staff put the pillows back in the wardrobe, this time without pillow cases. What offense we gave to have our pillow cases so severely removed we can't begin to fathom, so we filed it with the other oddities, like there being no hand soap for the bathroom sink, the fact that we were initially only given towels for one (although our reservation clearly indicated two) and the intermittent luck we had getting the in-room coffee/tea service refilled.

My husband asks that I also relay that street parking was a bit tricky and the parking garage actually very limited in terms of space and layout (car-eating poles render a solid quarter of the spaces unusable to anyone not driving a Mini Cooper or smaller).

In short, we hope the Husa manages to achieve its goal and become a real find in Brussels. However, to make up for its distance from downtown, it is going to need to do a bit better.

Room Tip: Definitely as far from the elevators as possible

The entrance lobby is grand and clean. The general appearence of the hotel is of a ageing one, but it's still clean and well kept. Our room was inward facing, so had a lovely view of a roof and some air conditioning units. Breakfast was of a very good quality. The beds are on the firm side.

The only real down side is it's a long way from the EuroStar, and North Railway station. But the walk to the hotel is pleasant and a shop isn't too far away at the stations entrance.

Room Tip: Plumb for an outward facing room.
