Stayed one night as an emergency stop-over when the Eurostar was suspended due to bad weather. On the plus side: (1) the staff were friendly & helpful, (2) the hotel is conveniently situated for the central tourist area, (3) the range of TV channels was impressive. On the negative side there was no way it deserved the same star rating as the Novotel we had stayed at elsewhere in Belgium the previous night. We went to another hotel for breakfast (not fancying the packaged approach provided). Slept badly - bed & bedding not brilliant. Hotel not noisy though (except ventilation system).

What can I say after staying in this horrible hotel for three days? Nothing of positive. From the first day to the last everything was wrong. Below a long list of total failures.
Customer care: no one of the personnel of the hotel was gentle and available towards to us. Always contrary to all requests, never kind.
Accommodation: if you want to stay warm you have to ask every time and always to the desk to switch on and switch off the heater, you do not have the possibility to control your room temperature. Keys: if unfortunately you should broken your old perforated key you do not have a new one but you must to call a receptionist to open and close your room, practically you are not free to go out and go in to your room.
Arrival: at our arrival we have had to pay in advance all amount. This totally unfair. I, personally, used to go abroad at least two times a month and something like this I have never found. Our room was a mess, we found men at work repairing water and heater.
Finally what I can say: absolutely avoid this HORRIBLE hotel not for the structure and location that is very well positioned, but above all for the rest.
If you want to stay at Alma hotel in Brussels please ondergoing a survival and escape course and good luck!!!

I have stayed in this hotel 3 times before and it has always been excellent but now it has really gone downhill. We asked for quiet room, we were given a very noisy one. We had no heating and were told we could have an extra cover for our bed but could not move rooms. My husband had to shout at staff before we were allowed to move to a room with heating - it was -3 outside and middle of winter! And the staff were deeply unhelpful. We will never go back

Room Tip: Stay somewhere els

Stayed at the Alma the last weekend in January, got a bargain on booking.com only paid approx £50, the hotel was in a fantastic location right in the centre, no problems with the staff as some previous reviews have said, they were all very courtious and friendly, would have to say that if I had paid the full price of 270 euros I would have been a bit hacked of but no complaints for what I paid

The hotel left very good impression. Is not smth luxurious, but clean and cosy. You have all you need in the room. The best thing about this hotel is the location!!! Its just 1-2 mins walking from Grand Place. In the morning i had to take early train to the airport from the central train station and the way there didn't take me more than 5 mins. I left the hotel 15-20 mins before the departure and that was too much, was finally waiting for the train at the station.
The check-in procedure was fast and simple. You have to provide them with your credit card as a garancy, dont like that, but that is what many hotels do... I payed by check-in with cash and avoided this procedure.
Great news: they have finally wifi free! To pay 10€ for wifi in 2013 is not th best idea, so this change is making this hotel more attractive! Also i think there are some changes in the breakfast pricing, now is not the exact price, they charge for the dishes. Idnt try it, had to leave too early.
Staff was ok! Especially the guy hat checked me in. He was polite and helpfull. The night shift receptionist was little strange... Cant say was rude, just little unfriendly... But what to do, he had to work during the night.

And now some negative sides. Actually i found two only. Pillows and aircondition. Pillows are too hard and small. For me pillow quality is very important, so this was little problem. And air condition is TOO loud! You cant normally sleep. It stops and starts all night. Next time if will be staying there will ask to turn it off, cause this really doesnt give you chance to sleep.

Otherwise i can only recommend this hotel! And next time will try to book it agin if price will be same good as this time!!!
