“Lovely wine bar/restaurant”
Reviewed November 27, 2013

My friend and I stumbled across this restaurant by chance and were really impressed with the wine selection, hearty & classic French dishes and fabulous cheese selection. We received a friendly welcome and spent quite a while in there enjoying the wines and cheeses. The setting is rather romantic as well what with the exposed brick walls, tables in arches and all the candlelights.

“Bad service”
Reviewed November 13, 2013

We had a 3 course meal in this restaurant last night, I left with very bad experiences. Our server was terrible - older man, if you decide to go try to sit where the women serves, as he single handedly made our evening turn into a bad experience.
The food was good tho, but this man forgot what we ordered and either came back to ask again or just simply brought what we didn't order. He was also super slow, for the starter and the main course we waited 45-50 minutes each time. We decided to take our dessert home as we had no more patience to wait for him to come around. Firstly he said we can take away ice cream and or the cheese plate, we ordered one of each. He gave us only the cheese and when I asked for the Ice cream he said we cannot take it - simply changed his mind! We left as we were so annoyed by him and will never return.

“Very good food in a pleasant restaurant.”
Reviewed October 31, 2013

In a time where everyone tries to impress with some sort of fusion and/or exotic cuisine, it's nice to go back to some classic French dishes. In this case it's very well executed at a reasonable price and in lovely surroundings ! Being also a wine bar, the wine list is very well chosen and the staff is knowledgeable. Not easy to find parking, though.

“Decent food, atmostpheric dining experience in an underground cellar”
Reviewed October 27, 2013 via mobile

Delicious starters (cream of mussels and stir-fried vegs), decent main dishes (leg of lamb and caramelised pork belly), good wine. Didnt have desserts, paid approx. 80 euros.

Really love the starters as they were seasoned perfectly and went well with the fresh bread provided, but was a little disappointed with the main dishes - the lamb could have been a little more tender, the pork belly could have been a little more soft and tasteful. The sauce for the pork belly was a little too sweet for my liking but the sauce for the lamb was delicious and complemented the beans well.

Staff didnt speak much english but was friendly enough. The place was quite packed, booking recommended. Service took a little long but not unbearably so. Have had better food for lower price in Brussels but the dining atmostphere underground was unique and worth a visit. Like the fact that it is hidden away in a small street away from main tourist traps.

NB: they dont have an English menu, so it was good that we used google translation to translate all the items in the menu beforehand.

“An excellent meal with a wonderful wine selection”
Reviewed October 6, 2013 via mobile

Very deceiving from the sidewalk, we almost did not go in as it appeared to be empty. I am so glad we stopped. Our waiter was very professional and very patient when explaining the French menu to my husband and I who speak little French. We had two glasses of red wine, the Rillettes D'oie appetizer and the lamb and duck entrees. We loved everything we ate and we loved the underground vaulted brick rooms and we enjoyed the service. We would go back. We spent 64 Euro.
