We often go to Jaco’s when we visit the hairdresser down the road, and go shopping in the local Delhaize. We probably should do a lovely extended lunch – but we tend to eat in the evening (nothing stopping us there either I guess). It is a very friendly and attractive restaurant serving a wide variety of food. Lately we have been trying the fish soup and last time I had the nems (spring rolls). The portions are pretty large – since we only ever have a starter, I can’t imagine eating that and a main course!

It's all "vacuum food" meaning they don't cook anything in the restaurant. The service in non existent and it is very very expansive. You have been warned.

Jaco's has continuous service, so it is also good for a late lunch or early dinner. We have never been disappointed with its reliable cuisine and service. Lovely sole, veal, pasta, you name it. And wines to match. At reasonable prices. We've been regulars for years

Went to this place upon a recommendation of a friend who had supposedly enjoyed the "best sole meuniere in Brussels".
I chose to order a grilled sole, while my guest went for the sole meunière. They are charged at daily market price, which ended up being 38 euro a piece.
The soles were of generous size, perfectly cooked and super fresh ! The type that indeed is much easier to find at the sea side than in Brussels. The frites were ok but certainly much more ordinary.

Wine selection was as extensive as in other brasseries like Georges or Maris but does offer good options for all prices, mostly from France, including by the glass.

Service was responsive as well.

That being said I would not make this place my everyday canteen. The whole place is very old fashioned, starting with patrons and you won't find much excitement in looking at the dining room design.

Seafood restaurant superbly located in the heart of Fort Jaco, serving the best sole meunière in Brussels. Old fashioned in the extreme, this is a place you can comfortably take your aging grandmother for lunch. The two extra-ordinary perks are friendly service, and continued service (until 11:30pm), both relatively unheard of in Brussles, and nothing short of miraculous to experience together. But even miracles come at a price: the sole may have been the best, but it was also the most expensive. For lunch, consider 30-50 euro/person if you do it on the cheap--you can easily hit the 100-150 range if you don't resist the temptation of their seafood platters and white wine list. Resistance takes energy, though--if you're feeling weak one day, you won't be disappointed...
