I arrived by car at the Central Railway Station, it is in the very centre of Brussels and is a devil of a job to get to even at 12 midday as the journey from the outskirts of Brussels involves the largest number of traffic lights I have ever seen with so many vehicles jockying for positions and many not having either the patience or the manners to allow others to change lanes.
The station itself is functional but with little space outside for passengers to be dropped off by car.
I made my was to platform 1 and 2 from where the train was departing for London St Pancras.
My ticket was via the internet and was scanned as I arrived and then through both Belgium customs and UK customs at the station. Then on to the train a swift process to a designated carriage and seat. The train was not full so there was plenty of room to spread. With stops at Lille and Calais the train departed on time at 12-56pm local time and arrived exactly on time at St Pancras at 2-09pm local time. Arriving at St Pancras once again there was a passport check which created some queues but nothing to frustrate. An efficient and good service.
