“If you arrive from the UK without Euro Cash...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 14, 2013

make sure you go to the Travelex ATM to get cash, if you make the mistake to go to a different ATM like me you'll end up queuing up for the machine to tell you your foreign card is not accepted. The ATM is between the Travelex Bureau De Change and Subway restaurant right opposite the tourist information office which is so small it's so easy to miss. Call me stupid, but I wasted an hour upon arrival trying to get money, collecting a Brussels card from the tourist office and then buying a metro ticket to go to my hotel. Unless you got enough Euro coins you end up queuing up again for a ticket. Apart from the arrival shock, the station has a nice range of shops, so upon departure you can buy your chocolates, sweets, souvenirs etc in case you forgot to buy in town, The supermarket also stays open a little later than the ones in town in case you need it during your stay.

“Awful station for an international terminal”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 12, 2013

Very disorganised station. Advertised the train to Paris late so I sat in the waiting area and then ran and just got on when it had actually arrived on time. I have passed through here over 50 times in the past five years or so and it has got no better. Beggars outside, smell of urine when you go into the metro and the information kiosque is routinely unhelpful. Most of the time the woman there doesn't even look up to acknowledge you. Come on SNCB, surely you can do better than this!

“Midi station”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 12, 2013

Midi station (Zuid Station in Dutch) is a good place to catch a train - that is all. The area around the train station is not nice and there aren't many places to get a decent meal. Many tourists are confused about the name as there are 3 main train stations in Bru coming from the airport: Nord, Central and Midi - Midi is the Southernmost, not the 'middle' of the three - that is Central!

“International gateway to Brussels”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 25, 2013

This is the international gateway to Brussels. Eurostar from London, TGV from Paris, Thalys from Amsterdam and Cologne ICE from Frankfurt are some of the services that arrive and depart from here.

The subterranean interchange is cavernous, not pretty but functional with shops, cafes and bars. If you leave the station and venture outside, keep your wits about you but if it's Brussels city centre you are after then catch a local train north one stop to Brussels Central where you are almost at the heart of the city centre and the main square and tourist attractions..

“A 34m chocolate train in Bruxelles-Midi station's main hall!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 20, 2012

Belgium has a fantastic CHOCOLATE reputation!

But I never expected to see and smell a beautiful chocolate train in Belgium's main international train station!!! The details are perfect.

MORE this week in Brussels regarding the chocolate week : www.brusselicious.be.

This piece of art is worth the ride for kids & adults!
