If you like Italian food this little restaurant is an absolute must in Brussels.
I bumped into their food truck in the Marche Gourmand du Sablon, the food market that is held every Thursday in the wonderful Sablon district and absolutely fell in love with their products. Talking to the lovely owners they told me that they had a restaurant a stone’s throw away from the European commission and I decided to book right there and then a table for two for dinner that evening. They do not do typical Italian restaurant food, you won’t find pizza here: their focus is on lasagna and tiramisu, as the name would suggest, and I was astounded as to how versatile these classic Italian dishes could be. The lasagna’s that they had at the moment were truffle lasagna, wild boar and chocolate and sausage with turnip tops, I have a particular weakness for anything with truffle so I opted for that one and was immediately transported to heaven. Then came the daunting task of choosing my tiramisu and I could have chosen from Hazelnut, Pistacchio, limoncello, orange and Cointreau. I went with the classic Pistacchio and was in absolute delight.
The lasagna and tiramisu vary depending on the season and what they owners find that is fresh to deliver the absolute highest quality possible.
The staff speak a multitude of languages, a reminder perhaps of the varied clientele that you get in Brussels, especially being so close to the European commission. The atmosphere is lovely and I look forward to coming back on a lovely spring day so that I can sit on the tables they have set up outside and enjoy some of the incredible coffees they offer.
One of the best restaurant in Brussels, and they also do take away and delivery!
