It is so amazing walking in Place du Jeu de Balle. Plenty of objects that can tell you an history, you just need to listen it! If you love Magreb atmosphere you will like it even more!
Do not if still exist, but some year ago on Sunday morning, a crazy barber was used to make his service for volunteers who accepted to be served outside the shop, in the street! :)

The flea market at the Place du Jeu de Balle is a true flea market where you can find anything that you might think of. The prices are -in my opinion- high yet the moment you put the thing you you were interested in back on the stall they seem to ask "what's the price you would put?". Therefore I'd definitely recommend you bargain hard enough if you are really interested.

We found it generally full of tat and rubbish. I suppose it depends on your definition of "treasure". each to his / her own I suppose. Nice, local's bar on the corner called the Brocante is definitely worth a visit.

a great flea market with dozens of stalls. Many with rubbish but equally many with little treasures. We bought paintings, enamel ware and loads of lovely things for which we bartered. The share is surrounded by cafes and musicians. A great place to troll for goodies

We visited on a Monday in November. We got there around 11:30 and it was in full swing. It was only a 10 min. walk from the Gare de Midi train station. This is not a farmers market and it is not a craft fair, it is a true flea market with loads of treasures and tons of junk. So if you are the kind of person that likes to paw thru stuff this is a paradise for you. Some people just had stuff in banana boxes set out, some just had piles of stuff on blankets and others had tables. We spotted several antiques mixed in among the junk, dishes, figurines, old coins, etc. It is pretty cool to walk thru and see what you can see and we would recommend. Also, there are a few cafes around the square where you can get a hot bowl of soup and a beer for cheap.
