After reading the reviews on here, I was most disappointed on arrival at the hotel to find clean sheets, clean spacious rooms (one with balcony), no bed bugs, quite a posh bathroom and a great location (10 minutes walk from the centre).

I really do despair at some of the reviewers on this page - at this price, the place is a bargain. It's old and has character - quite dark, carpets and wood etc. If you want something soulless full of chrome and bleached wooden floors then stop moaning and pay for it!

Behind reception were free maps of the city, and the guy in the day gave me plenty of advice.
There's a 24 hour machine selling beer and snacks in the lobby. You're ble to smoke in some rooms. Some balconies, ancient old school lift. If you like character rather than blandness and you're with a group of friends then I could not recommend this place more!!

Room Tip: Rooms 21 and 22 (I think) - recommended!

The location is very good, both for business and for visiting the city center. But everything else was unacceptable, in my opinion. The structure is pretty old and not very clean, and the breakfast is extremely poor.

This is a cheap hotel for Brussels, so basic can be expected. But there is no excuse for the hotel being extremely dirty and grotty. The room was filthy and the bed very soft and uncomfortable. The breakfast was a stale piece of bread with jam. Definitely not worth the £70/night - a youth hostel would have been a much better option.

Room Tip: Just don't bother - there is nothing good about this hotel.

From the old men at the reception listening to their transistors to the grandly fitted restaurant (now slightly shabby) cleraly indicating better times, I loved the place from the first go. The room was small and the bed a little too soft. But was very good value for money< cheaper than most hostels with twin rooms. Quite close to Beurse and Grande Place the sex shops opposite along with the restaurant named 'Meat Me' (!) added a bit more eccentric Brussels charm.

This is the most disgusting, awful and creepiest set up for a hotel that I have ever seen in my life. Even if it was renovated, it would still be unacceptable. Miserable staff in reception (these two old ghastly men were, I am told, the owners!!!). Awful breakfast room ( if you could call it that?!) with almost inedible food and cold coffee. In addition, I was kept up most of the night by some young group with girls appearing in the room nearby mine and noise in the corrider all night - seemed more like a brothel to me. I would be expected to be paid for staying in this nighmarish rubbish which I would never class as a 'hotel'. Complained to reception and supposedly the man at reception was going to call them to ask for them to keep the noise down. In the morning at breakfast I was told by the waitress that, apparently, this had happened before. I lived in Brussels for many years and I felt quite sad that this kind of place exists although I know the area is not the best in the area.

Room Tip: Zero for all of the above.

I went here with my friends and the location is fairly central, although as other reviewers have said, there are lots of sex shops nearby. However, it is one street over from the main shopping area with H&M etc, so not as dodgy as it seems. The staff aren't particularly nice, the buidlings smelt of old cigarettes and stale wee. It was also extremely dusty. Like reviewer Megan B we stayed in room 29, which was also room 26. The bathroom door handle was falling off, no natural light could enter the room whatsoever and we inspected the beds before sleeping on them. They were not particularly clean, although we were happy to find they did not have any bed bugs! It really was an eerie place, that gave you the impression that you were in an Alfred Hitchcock movie. I would definitely avoid this place in future.

This hotel first off was in the middle of a somewhat shady area. It was on a street full of sex shops and porn stores. Going inside the entire building was old and musty. Our room was very spacious, however had many problems like faulty wiring, a broken window, and water damaged ceilings. It really gave you that feeling you were apart of the movie Hostel. However, the price was a good and we were only there for one night, so we survived. Things were clean enough, but it was still not ideal.

Room Tip: We had room 29, which also happened to be room 26. It was a double with four beds that looked like a...
