“One of Europe's best shopping streets!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 5, 2012 via mobile

This is quite a long street that goes from near Place Rogier to almost to the Grand Place! For the shopping enthusiast this has everything you could want. You must try the hot Guafres for sale at the windows (similar to a waffle) and the fresh fruit stand in front of the church. Health food people will live the Kiki restaurant by there too. There is a good restaurant on the top floor of the INNO store where the locals eat and you pay a lot less than in a local restaurant. Go in some of the mini malls off the side and browse through old used BD's (cartoon books) in several languages. There is a poster shop that has amazing work. I always allow a whole day of browsing and end up at Drug Opera for one of their amazing ice creams (Rue des Fripiers 32, 1000‎ Brussels). Their food is like art and it is at the Grand Place end. Enjoy your day and you will never forget. Even enjoy the music of the street musicians! Some are really good! You must also try the Leonidas chocolates which the locals eat. There are other brands but quality and price nothing beats Leonidas. You can mix or buy just one type. You pay for what you taste and you can buy from one piece to several kilos! I get a minimum of 6 kg each time I come to Brussels every year! This is a street for browsing, shopping, fun and just watching the people. Sales are real sales and you can get some great bargains! Enjoy.

“Crowded, dirty and beggars on the streets”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 14, 2012

If you want to enjoy some nice shopping, I would advise you to visit the Avenue Louise Area instead.
Rue nueve is really crowded and has little special to offer compared to Avenue Louise. It is quite close to the grande place though.
For people who have visited the Ramblas in Barcelona or the Galeries La Fayette in Paris, Rue Nueve will certainly disappoint.

They do have a very big galeria Inno which is worth visiting (5 stories high).
The shopping area itself has more of the same to offer; 2x H&M, 2x Mango, Zara etc.
For the fashion lovers, go to Louise.

“boring”

Just a load of the familiar shops you find anywhere else - like the Hohe Strasse in Koeln. Absolutely nothing original like the Stroget in Copenhagen

“Brussels main shopping street”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 4, 2012

There are 2 main shopping areas in Brussels that you need to be aware of - Rue de Neuve and Avenue Louise.

In summary Rue de Neuve is best described as mainstream and is more central to the city centre whereas Avenue Louise is more upmarket and trendy and situated away from the true city centre in the Ixelles commune of Brussels.

Brussels is eclipsed in shopping terms by London, Paris and even Antwerp but on Rue Neuve you will find your stock of European high street names as well as a large shopping mall with department store.

“not much to see”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 26, 2012

The short story about Rue Neuve is that there are a lot more interesting shopping areas in Brussels. Rue Neuve is very touristy, fully of big chains (which it might be what you are looking for) but what caught my eye was that there were lots of second brand shops.
Do your homework and find somewhere else to go shopping.
