“The real atmosphere of Brussels”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 24, 2013

If you want to taste the real atmosphere of Brussels, just have a walk there, especially during the WE....A popular neighborhood, astonishing shops and a lot of furniture designers.... great

“Forgone glory”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 27, 2012

This neighbourhood looks like a place which has been beautiful in the past, but unfortunately is now part of the poor area the Brussels centre has become.

“Dirty and partially a building site”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 19, 2012

What a pity this is all so dirty. If the quartier was cleaned up, it could be stunning. As it is, who would want to linger?

“lively bohemian area”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 19, 2012

Les Marolles is a lively and bohemian area of Brussels, with lots of shops selling all sorts of stuff, from simply old to some times antique (if you can recognise the difference), mainly furniture, chandeliers, china, asian sculptures and small decorative objects. There is plenty of small bars and restaurants. The flea market is the key attraction of les Marolles during the WE.

“Daily fleamarket in an area of Brocante & Antiques”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 16, 2012

The Centre of the Marolles is the Vosseplein, hosting every day a bunch of brocantiers trading anything from furniture, paintings, silverware, old cameras, to vintage clothes. Beware not all is vintage as the old antiquairs and brocantiers are sided by Northafrican tradesmen that sell second hand crap, not worth a dime. Just worth strolling around, best on weekends, as it attracts more tradesmen to sell their stuff. You must bargain, or you will pay too much, and for best deals, as always on fleamarkets, come early for rarities, or very late, when prices drop for large items they don't want to take back. When you're done brocante shopping continue along Rue Blaes and Rue Haute, to see the real antiques, although some of the stuff there is also sold on the fleamarket at a fraction of the price.
