“Grande yes, but also see Petit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 7, 2013

Very much worth the visit to walk around this fascinatin sqaure (not to be confused with the Grande Place some blocks away). But as much as the Place du Grand Sablon is fascinating, make sure you walk across Rue de la Regence to the smaller park, "Le Petite Sablon", with its manicured shrubsm beautiful founation and statues of famous thinkers who were arrested or killed for their freethinking. A delightful place to sit and relax.

“Just beautiful”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 7, 2013

What else is there to say: it's just beautiful. The restaurants and bars are very expensive though. And the square would be more enjoyable without the cars. But you should not miss this when visiting Brussels.

“Antiques, Antiquity and Ambience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 5, 2013

This is an upper market area where all the best antique shops are located as well as many cafes with tables on the pavements. On the weekends the area is packed with tourists and locals alike and the fresh oysters in the corner cafe of Chez Roger with a glass of house pinot blanc is a special. It also the place to buy the best Belgian chocolates with Wittamer and Marcolini vying for the reputation of the best in town.

“Grand Place - Brussels”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 26, 2013

A UNESCO World Heritage Site , Place du Grand Sablon , is without doubt one of the most important & memorable tourist destination in Brussels. Its a "U" shaped opening/sqaure with the Grand Place in the center and flanking it is the Town Hall & The Bread House. Its steeped in history and the grandeur is breathtaking. You will find lot of shops around it selling souveniers & also lot of eateries dotted around the square. ( Dont forget to sample the wafles ( honey dipped ) and drink some excellent Belgian Beer ( Hoe-garrden )
If you are lucky you may witness the sound & light show which is brilliant. What also caught my attention is the flower display with their rich vibrant colours.

Grand Place - Brussels - A must see. ( Its a little crowded though , expectedly , as all tourists converge here )
