I’ve been to the Râle Bol twice now.
It is very conveniently located in the Rue du Page close to Châtelain. Small tables and nice atmosphere inside, a rather small restaurant.
What I like about this place is that it offers lots of cooked options too if you want to go with a group of people and not everybody likes sushi and raw fish.
I wouldn’t say the sushi is the best in Brussels but it is definitely a very good quality (and I am a big sushi lover!). They have nice yakitori as well and a good selection of Japanese drinks and desserts. Prices are very reasonable, not as expensive as other Japanese places in Brussels.
The only thing I missed was the possibility to order little side dishes like Edamame or Seaweed salad. You get a small portion of Edamame as an appetizer, which is nice.
They also do delivery and take-away, I’ll definitely use these services and come back many times in the future. Recommended!

Very authentic place for japanese casual food. While the Sashimi was very nice and fresh, this place has in particular also a whole lot of other classic casual Japanese dishes (Udon, Yakitory, etc.) of great quality. The service is very helpful and nice (a quality that many Belgium restaurants lack). Definitely a great place to go with a bunch of friends!

The sushi was not good, badly prepared and the rice was not tasty. Fish totally anodyne. I would not recommend this...

It's not the first time I go eating at the Rale-Bol and I must say I have never been disappointed. This small restaurant has a slightly zany interior decoration, which I find to be in contrast with the rather delicate Japanese cuisine they serve.
The place is great for an unassuming romantic dinner, or even with friends. It's probably too fancy for e.g. a business dinner. And it's not that big.
Every time I have had sushi I have been delighted: the chef makes them on the spot for you, they taste fresh and succulent, and even though I'm no sushi specialist I really like them the way the Rale-Bol prepares them.
Last time my wife had a dish of Tempura shrimp and they were crispy, tasty and satisfying.
Portions are reasonably small, so don't expect to walk out with a full belly on a single dish.
Prices are reasonable, and I reckon 20 Euro per person should be enough to eat at the Rale-Bol. All in all, I can recommend this place as a clever choice if you want to enjoy Japanese cooking at reasonable prices.
