Owner description: This is not a museum in the traditional sense: the museum itself is actually the house that Victor Horta built for himself in the late 1890s, which truly exemplifies the Art Nouveau style that made Horta into one of the most acclaimed architects in Belgium.

Everything you would expect of Horta in the house he designed for himself. Fantastic organic forms, lightwell, staircase and furnishings. Even if you have to wait outside and queue in the rain this is a must see.

“Beautiful house but the wait can be long”
Reviewed November 2, 2013

We took the metro and didn't see a lot of tourists so we thought. But once we got to the museum, oh boy, there was a long line! The line actually got longer as we waited, so be prepared to go there with plenty of time 'cause you may be in line for an hour! Once you are inside, you have to check in all your belongings, which can take another 15 mins. The building itself is architecturally beautiful in its design and definitely worth seeing. I believe the admission is 8 euros per person. It's a late 19th century "eclectic style" house with lots of ironwork staircases. The neighborhood has art Nouveau buildings that are worth seeing too!

“Beautiful”

Loved this place; allow 45 minutes to an hour and be aware that you must leave all bags, even purses, at the front.

“the museum you should not visit”
Reviewed November 1, 2013

This was Victor Horta's own house, a masterpiece of Art Nouveau. The architect designed everything: the house, the furniture, even the heating system. The fact that this is constantly open for visit is not good for the preservation of this gem.

“Beautiful art nouveau house”
Reviewed October 31, 2013

This house is a short tram ride from the centre of Brussels. The city is full of art nouveau architecture, and this house/museum showcases this beautifully.
