Owner description: This is not a museum in the traditional sense: the museum itself is actually the house that Victor Horta built for himself in the late 1890s, which truly exemplifies the Art Nouveau style that made Horta into one of the most acclaimed architects in Belgium.

“The true Art Nouveau”
Reviewed September 24, 2013

Wow! What more can I say after a visit to the Musee Horta?
Not the easiest place to find (check the map and the public transport system in advance to find the best route), but it was SO worth it. The first main room you enter is just breathtaking, and each of the floors has something to offer. I was particularly pleased to see at least two old photographs of the occupants in situ, with the same background furniture, etc., as is there today.
We followed this up with a general walk around the area looking at Art Nouveau architecture.
Not suitable for disabled visitors, and be aware that you have to leave all bags and coats on the way in.

“When can I move in?”
Reviewed September 24, 2013

The Musee Horta is the most beautiful example of Art Nouveau I have ever seen. All the furniture and decor is so beautiful, and yet there is nothing really pretentious about it. It looks as though it would be a really comfortable home. There is so much light. The only thing I would say though is - why are there photos looking down the stairwell, and none looking DOWN the stairwell. It is such an amazing site. Absolutely beautiful.

“Take the time to stand and stare and soak it in.”

What an incredible Museum of delicious design.. extraordinary lines of beauty - for anyone who ever thought they might like art noveau - you must not miss this wonderful place. No photos so cant give you anything more than the door knocker on the outside.. but the images etched in my mind will not be forgotten for a long time.
I have heard it was almost knocked down. Thank you to those who saved it. Beautiful!

If you like the Art Nouveau style this is a must-see place in Brussels. It is fabulous. The attention to detail of every single aspect and item in the house is just wonderful. A memorable experience.

“Arrive before opening time”
Reviewed September 18, 2013

This is a really fabulous house, the design and style are just really lovely. The house is not very big so to make the experience safe only a certain number of people are allowed in, this is good in two ways, first it's safer, secondly it is far more enjoyable as there is space to look and you are not on a conveyer belt. Because the house is not that big the wait outside will not be too long. We saw it on a fine day and the sunlight showed the house off at it's best. If you go on a wet day take your umbrella! The house has a narrow stair case. There is a small small shop. The public toilets are in the basement.
