Owner description: This is not a museum in the traditional sense: the museum itself is actually the house that Victor Horta built for himself in the late 1890s, which truly exemplifies the Art Nouveau style that made Horta into one of the most acclaimed architects in Belgium.

“Arrive before opening time”
Reviewed September 18, 2013

This is a really fabulous house, the design and style are just really lovely. The house is not very big so to make the experience safe only a certain number of people are allowed in, this is good in two ways, first it's safer, secondly it is far more enjoyable as there is space to look and you are not on a conveyer belt. Because the house is not that big the wait outside will not be too long. We saw it on a fine day and the sunlight showed the house off at it's best. If you go on a wet day take your umbrella! The house has a narrow stair case. There is a small small shop. The public toilets are in the basement.

“The most beautiful house”
Reviewed September 13, 2013

Anyone who appreciates Art Nouveau must go here.
The house is not about Horta's work - it is about the house itself. So much of the stuff inside is focused on what Art Nouveau designers kept in their house. Many works by other artists and Asian imports from China and Japan

“Worth a visit but not quite up to Gaudi/Barcelona standard.”
Reviewed September 11, 2013

This museum is only open to the public in the afternoon. It is small and they only let a few people in at a time. Although worth a visit I have seen better.

“Art Nouveau”
Reviewed September 10, 2013

You have to leave all your belongings including handbag at the desk and no photographs can be taken. Although it is a must see for art/art nouveau lovers I spent less than one hour there. It all looks beautiful with furniture and fittings designed by Horta and it feels like you could move in and live there! Felt a bit disappointed somehow and to spent 8 euros for such a short outing is a bit dear. You can walk to the Avenue Louise from there so it is a nice location to include shopping.

“Beatiful museum in well maintained art nouveau house”
Reviewed September 9, 2013

It's really worth visiting for all people who like Art Nouveau. The facade is very remarcable. Even though the entrence fee is rather high and the opening hours could do better) it's worth the pain. In fact it's privately owned , as many of those mighty art-nouveau houses in Brussels, since they have to deal with very high costs to renovate.

The interior is astonishing and I'll pput it at least at the level of the most famous houses of Ghaudi (Casa Battló, Casa Mirá)
