this used to be a bar/cafe run by a Swede, but is now managed by a couple of Italians. nice and people who put a lot of effort in their work. i think they still have a long way to go to make it really good. food for the moment is Ok but should be imporved. same goes for the atmosphere.

Thank bart v

I have to say, my favourite coffee place inBruxelles hands down! The management is the friendliest that you will EVER meet and will make the BEST coffee you will ever have! If you value quality and an atmosphere that will always leave you feeling like home, I wouldn't miss it. Make sure you try the cheese cake...ammmaaaazing :)

I have visited Blomqvist a few times since it was taken over - even if it did not use to be a regular customer before with the previous owner. I went in October, November, only once in December, and once again a few days ago.
It is a bit of a mixed bag: the atmosphere is nice - maybe better than before. The new owner - if I understood correctly she is Italian - can be overly friendly. Coffee products are very good, as well as the sweets and sandwiches I have tried so far.
However it really stops there - tried to go once with friends for a drink before dinner but it was already closed - and this was at 6pm.
It seems to me that business hours are a bit odd (different times every day) and change frequently - not reliable at all. Avoid arriving too close to closing time, you will not feel really welcome. Also, do not even try going there at the begining of the week as it is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
I finally managed to go for a drink during the week, but the choice is limited to coffee and soft drinks - not great for a pre-dinner drink. Limited choice of wines served in small glasses - not a fancy style. Just one beer available - had once, it is a kind of white beer which is not my taste, again served in standard glasses, would be nice to have one conceived for beers. No 'spritz'. No cocktails. Actually no spirits available at all. No small snacks available apart from sharing a sandwich (no chips, nuts or similar, not even for purchase). We finally had red wine (average), but must say that the friend with me was somewhat disappointed - and so was I.
Will surely keep going but only for coffee or a small bite. It would be nice to have an alternative for drinks in the area, also at later times than 6 or 7pm, but that's not the case. If you want an 'aperitivo' in the Italian fashion go to Piola instead.

Not new in town, but friendly new management. Perfect for your lazy time, very good for your lunch break. I enjoyed a tasty sandwich (very fresh) and a fresh orange juice, along with a "cortado'. Tables outside when sunny - it happens also in Brussels. Perfect location in St. Boniface (Ixelles). Beware: it seems it opens only Wednesday to Sunday. Don't go the wrong day.
