“Best hotel of Brussels”
Reviewed July 18, 2009

My experience in the Stanhope was quite perfect. Through a Dutch booking website (bookit) I had an arrangement with upgrade to a mini-suite, breakfast included, a free drink and late check-out till 5 PM and all of that was exactly what made this stay so fantastic. I had asked for a quiet room with no neighbours and I got just that, room 523 which has only the stairs next to the room, so I could play my CD player as loud as I wanted , nobody heard it, also because of the lay-out of this suite. A small living room, but posh, then a small bedroom, then nice bathroom with bath, then small toilet, all with doors in between. 2 TVs, old models but with plenty of channels, also movies .
Expensive minibar ( 4 Euro for a Coca-cola or a chocolate bar). Very goodf breakfast in the really beautiful restaurant. Saturday morning not crowded there, but Sunday it was.
Friendly young personell, one Dutch speaking young man. I got ill on the last day after breakfast and was extremely happy that I had a late checkout so I could recover in the room in stead of out on the street. At the elevator a basket of fruit, bananas, oranges and apples. It was a bit cold for diner at the garden terrace but there was loud talking around midnight from there, the only noise I heard in the room ( having a garden side room). I had dinner in the restauarant Friday night and I wa sthe only one. Just one menu and only a choice between fish or meat fior mean nmenu, not too good but nice enough. But for choice you need find a restaurant elsewhere. I have stayed in many very good hotels but the Stanhope beats them all,. Don't listen to the bad reviews for which these ungrateful people should be really ashamed. This is THE most superb hotel in Brussels.

Good location with connections by metro – and walking distance (1.5 km to EU offices). Fairly quiet side street. Classy restaurant and posh restaurant. Breakfast not included and very expensive (25 EUR). Had a mini-suite with two tiny rooms. Strange layout with shower built into bedroom and a minuscule wc without even a washbasin. WLAN not included.

Hotel is great. Perhaps not a five star but i had no complaints. The location isn't the best and it is expensive.

During my business life (+32 years) I have stayed in many, many hotels all over the world. The Stanhope hotel does NOT merit it's 5 star rating. If there is anyone out there who has paid the advertised room rate of €520,- we may be speaking of theft..
We spend a few days in the Ardennes and decided to close off this short break with a night in a recommende 5 star hotel in Brussel - and choose the Stanhope. Wrong decision..
On arrival the staff was remotely aware of our presence and after check in showed us ou room; the porter stayed outside since there was no place for the three of us plus two bags.. Outside it was a beautiful 25 degrees Celcius but inside we had at least over 30 so I turned immediately the airco on. I asked the concierge for a good restaurant for that evening but we were told that 'everything' was closed for Sunday so we found ourselves a good japanese restaurant.. On return to the hotel in the evening the room was as we had left it: no turndown service - no clean towels, no nothing. The service car with the vacuumcleaner though were next to our door as a sign: we really like you to get out of here so we can 'do' your room..We cleaned the bathroom ourselves since previous occupants had left their traces: hair, a sock and a towel was used as shoeshine (and the staff apparently had never noticed until we dropped the towel on the frontdesk). The room was still unbearable hot and though I had called already to the desk: nothing happened so ultimately we opened all windows. Wrong move since the streets with cobblestones are noisy and the garbage truck passes at 5 am. We did not get much sleep so went for an early breakfast with very bad coffee and not a smile and happily left for the TGV railwaystation which looked like a splendid place after the Stanhope Hotel..

Spent a Aprl weekend here with my GF, and was impressed by the nice hotel and it's friendly staff. We had a very nice standard room with a large bathroom, nicely decorated in classic style.
When asking staff for tourist advice, we got all the help we could ask for and more. Also, the room service staff was very professional and helpful.
Location is perfect, close to EU parlament, shopping street and Metro station which takes you wherever you need to go within minutes.
Next time we visit Brussels, this will be our first choice for hotels.

We booked the holiday in Feb and the room was in special Easter promotion; it was a great value including fantastic breakfast, the staffs are friendly and helpful! The welcome fruit is next to the left before you arrive your room; the standard room we had is clean and comfortable, just like 5 starts hotel you can expect.

Recently returned from 2 nights at the Stanhope.

Great location to get easily into and around Brussels, and useful that it has a car park (although this is extra and a space is not guaranteed).

We very much enjoyed our stay, and found the hotel relaxed, comfortable and welcoming.

The staff on the front desk were extremely helpful, not only with the operation of the hotel (check in/out, moving bags to rooms etc), but also with recommending local attractions and restaurants.

An issue arose during our stay with the hot water in our area of the hotel – we were relocated to a new room and the situation was well-handled, further demonstrating the ability of the staff to deal with the unforeseen.

Great hotel and would be happy to return.
