My experience in the Stanhope was quite perfect. Through a Dutch booking website (bookit) I had an arrangement with upgrade to a mini-suite, breakfast included, a free drink and late check-out till 5 PM and all of that was exactly what made this stay so fantastic. I had asked for a quiet room with no neighbours and I got just that, room 523 which has only the stairs next to the room, so I could play my CD player as loud as I wanted , nobody heard it, also because of the lay-out of this suite. A small living room, but posh, then a small bedroom, then nice bathroom with bath, then small toilet, all with doors in between. 2 TVs, old models but with plenty of channels, also movies .
Expensive minibar ( 4 Euro for a Coca-cola or a chocolate bar). Very goodf breakfast in the really beautiful restaurant. Saturday morning not crowded there, but Sunday it was.
Friendly young personell, one Dutch speaking young man. I got ill on the last day after breakfast and was extremely happy that I had a late checkout so I could recover in the room in stead of out on the street. At the elevator a basket of fruit, bananas, oranges and apples. It was a bit cold for diner at the garden terrace but there was loud talking around midnight from there, the only noise I heard in the room ( having a garden side room). I had dinner in the restauarant Friday night and I wa sthe only one. Just one menu and only a choice between fish or meat fior mean nmenu, not too good but nice enough. But for choice you need find a restaurant elsewhere. I have stayed in many very good hotels but the Stanhope beats them all,. Don't listen to the bad reviews for which these ungrateful people should be really ashamed. This is THE most superb hotel in Brussels.
