“Not bad”
Reviewed August 6, 2012

I had a small, comfortable room. The staff were courteous. The room faced an alleyway. The location is not the best. Not bad, but not very good either. Even though it was not very hot outside, it was still stuffy in the room. They need to improve the circulation. For the money, it was what I had expected and I was grateful for that.

I stayed at Hotel Chambord for 04 nites in early Jun 12. Selected it based on the location (subway at its doorstep and close to shopping streets) and the reviews in TripAdvisor.

++ve
- the room i had was of decent size (for the budget) and by Europe standards.
- breakfast - don't expect too much but sufficient enough - you get toast, brewed coffee, fruits, ham, cheese, cereals.

--ve
- corridor to the rooms were dark and gloomy and on one of the floors, coming out of the lift, it was pitch dark as the light did not work.
- my cubicle shower floods in which have to wait for 5-10 minutes for water to clear up before can shower again. Raise the issue to reception, not addressed and had to reraise again before it got fixed by their outsourced maintenance chap (comes in every morning except weekends).
- the housekeeping replaced with two filthy bath towels on the 3rd day of my stay - I took pictures of the filthy stains and kept it aside and produced to the reception upon check out. I have seen on-off stains but it was really the limits for me with this which made me write this review. Reception girl was the one I raised the earlier issue of the shower but did not action on it or revert to me.
- no aircon so need to leave window open for ventilation.

Arriving at the hotel gives you the impression of a typical 3 star hotel. So when you enter one of the rooms in the back (6 out of 10 rooms i believe), where the only view is the window of the room opposite to you. As was explained by other reviewers, this would be ok if the rooms weren't so hot and the room lighting so dim that you need to have the window open at most times...

So the next day I asked for a room with a front view and... it was as if I upgraded the hotel! My room had even a terrace, while the small bath with shower changed to a large one with a bath tub.

In general though I believe that all rooms are ok: spacious, nice furniture, in general clean. Breakfast is typical 3-star, while persons at the desk 5-star without the tupee.

Summing up, staying at this hotel in the first room for the price of 59 is a good price. Staying in the second room was a bargain!!! (Note: I stayed four days thus I was offered free wi-fi for all my stay)

Medium hotel at a good spot. Rooms was quite warm because the heat was on in the summer. Effective staff. Not cheap not expensive, not much charm but it works for staying a couple days just to explore Brussels. Not at the most turistic places.

Room Tip: No suprises it works!

The rooms are very small (cell like in some cases), noisy, and windows hard to open. Breakfast is poor, with limited choice, and shortage of cutlery and dishes - reminded me of a hostel. This is not a great hotel, not even for business travel. Avoid rooms 4 and 64 and many other rooms besides.

This hotel is very well located, at easy reach from the airport and main areas. The room was fine and the price fair. I would recommend it for people on business or just holidays.
