This tour is good if you have limited time and want to see what Brussels looks like in general. This it does deliver in about an hour and a half. The buses are the usual two stories with about 60% of the top floor in the open. You have a tape to listen to and a choice of languages. It's ok but the sound can be of dubious quality. The trip is fairly expensive, a bit more than 20 euro.

We only had 24 hours in Brussels and wanted to see as much as possible. This tour was horrible. The guide was a total monotone who kept telling us to listen to the tape which was of horrid quality. When we tried to tip the guide, we accidentally gave the wrong kind of coin. We were so tired that we mistook a Lira for a Euro -- the guide threw the money back at us! Rudeness is inexcusable for any service provider. The bus needed a good cleaning. The chocolate part of the tour was a joke as I asked about gluten intolerance and a salesman responded with incorrect information. so the tour was a waste of money, uncomfortable and provided potentially health endangering information.

At recommendation of hotel concierge we took the Brussels City tour of Brugge, a historic town about an hour from Brussels. Can't say enough good things about Brugge, go there if you can and you will enjoy just about every aspect of the small city. The tour was positioned as transportation along with an experienced guide and tour thrown in for the price of the train. The ride out was fine - a small bus picked us up in front of hotel and took us a short distance to transfer to a larger, more comfortable intercity bus. Driver was very skillful navigating the narrow streets of Brussels and getting us to Brugge and the guide was very knowledgeable about Brussels and Brugge and imparted valuable information along the way to Brugge. Once there, however, it seemed that every effort was made to keep us on a predetermined schedule. Apart from standing in two plazas and dropping us off for lunch, there was no tour given - guide was extremely nice and answered any questions skillfully but there was none of the 'walk around, visit this site, here's what to look for' give and take one expects on a guided tour. If you are staying a ways from the train station, the tour is fine as it picks you up and drops you off at your hotel (an hour and a quarter after stopping at the first hotel debarkation point) but if you can get to the train station, use that option. When you get to Brugge, hire a horse drawn carriage for your own personal tour of the place - a better option in my opinion.

The city tour bus seemed like a good idea consideribng the short time we were in Brussels. However they are relatively expensive noisy and not that comfortable. The buses run late and we were forced to change buses, for no apparent reason. The tours don't necessarily follow the planned route either. On several occaisons i noticed the buses failing to pick up passengers. It might be a 24 hour ticket but they don't run all day anyhow. I wouldn't waste my money again.
