Loved the location and clean but simple ambiance of this hotel. The Citadine has the feeling of a cosy but comfortable residence. Ideally located for visits to the Grande Place and anywhere else in the heart of tourist Brussels. Close to the Metro so you have easy inexpensive access to the airport or train. Lots of restaurants nearby in the Sainte Catherine Square. Also found the best chocolate shop in all Brussels moments away! The hotel is great value. I loved it!

In terms of the hotel I was really pleased with the room for the price. I travelled to Brussels alone for a weekend and just needed the basics. I stayed in a Deluxe Studio, which was a very good size, separate bathroom, flat screen tv, small kitchen with hot plates, small fridge and dishwasher and equipped with all the necessary cutlery and glasses etc. One thing that was really great was the bed and pillows. The bed was extremely comfortable, everything from the pillows to the doona to the mattress. This was what pleased me the most about staying here. It's a great option if you don't need things like room service or the 5 star hotel treatment. It's also really easy to get to using the metro but you can also walk up from Gare du Midi or Gare du Nord if you want (and you're not travelling with a lot of luggage). It will take you about 20 minutes either way.
The only thing I found disappointing was the the area. The strip that the hotel is located on I had expected to be a bit more happening with restaurants and cafes but it's extremely quiet, dare I even say there's not much happening at all here. You don't have to walk far to find some small bars and cafes, in fact some of the more well known restaurants in Brussels are not far at all from this hotel, but don't stay here expecting it to be buzzing like the area around Grand Place.
For information, Grand Place is only a short walk from Sainte-Catherine though, you can be there in about 5-10 minutes depending on how fast you walk!
Eat frites @ Frites Taboa
Get chocolate from Mary's in the St Hubert Galleries, I think it is the best.

Room Tip: I stayed in Room 2401 which was super quiet, I never heard any noise from anywhere.

This hotel more than met our expectations. It consists of very spacious apartments that worked very well for 2 adults and 2 kids. Very comfortable, warm, clean and well appointed. Free wifi access. Located in a nice quiet part of town actually (I note comments elsewhere about noise but we were there on a Saturday night and no problems). Small supermarket just down the street on the right. Metro station just across the street linked you anywhere you wanted to go.
Highly recommended.
They are doing some work at present so a little grubby but a very minor issue.

Very conveniently located. a few minutes walk from the Grand Platz which has many historic monuments & wonderful restaurants, chocolate shops etc. Rooms were nice, large & convenient. Only hitch was that the rooms are cleaned only once a week. We travelled with children and would have preferred if the rooms were cleaned daily & if we were given fresh towels every day. Hotel does not have a restaurant within the premises, only a small breakfast room which has a very limited menu. But, that was OK for us since we stayed in the hotel for just 2 nights. Helpful staff but only a few speak English. If you know French it would be easier to communicate with the staff. Good va

Can't beat this place for convenience-literally steps from the metro, location-again steps from the vibrant center city, and price-great, clean accommmodations. Very friendly staff. We arrived at end ofvJuly and it was hot. No AC. Would have been perfect with a fan to keep air moving. Fabulous choice of eating right outside the door of the hotel when the promenade turns into a fabulous restaurant row! I'd return in a minute if I could.

I can recommend this choice. It is situated near a metro (saint- Cathrines) in the old harbour, which is nowadays filled up, but some canals are left. The street is filled with restaurant, some of the facades looks withered, which i like, though everything is alive and still in function. Two of the most recommended restaurants, Marie Joseph ande Bij de Boer, lies next to and across the hotel. There are even two icecreambars in the street. Saint - Cathrines Place, where you can buy fresh fish and freshly cooked fish and oysters is also a few steps away. All other seesights in Bruxelles is at a walking distance.
The staff speaks english, but sometimes i am not sure they understand it.
The breakfast costs about 11 pounds for a fully assorted breakfast. The breakfastrestaurant was managed by an asian couple, who made a lot of noise and hassle. Maybe because they took too much food. The parts that was put at your table could feed a family.

Room Tip: The studio choice is not as bad as it looks. There is also kitchen and microwaveoven in these, a ful...

I had a group of international researchers from Europe, US, Brazil, SOuth Africa for a number of workshops in June 2012 and we stayed as a large group in Citadines St. Catherine. The hotel was superb and the people are still raving about how good it was. One of the visitors had a problem with theft from the metro and the hotel staff took such good care of her in the aftermath that she still talks about how it lessened the impact. I would recommend highly to anyone. Location is perfect also with great access to metro, restaurants, etc.
