Location: The location is ideal because it is: (a) steps away from the Central Station and (b) steps away from the Grand Place/Grote Markt (which also has the visit brussels/tourist info office). There are plenty of bars, cafes and restaurants right outside the hotel including a Belgian Waffle stand and an excellent Italian restaurant (Pasta Divina) just outside the door.

Service: All but one of the staff members we encountered were helpful and kind. The unfriendly staff member told us to go the tourist office to get directions which is not appropriate given the rating/cost of this hotel. Luckily, the staff member next to him took the time to answer our question. For whatever reason we kept getting only one large towel but they promptly brought us more when we phoned down to reception.

Cleanliness/ Comfort: The room we stayed in (220) was huge and extremely convenient. It had a king size bed, large windows and 2 lounge chairs. The shower and toilet were in separate rooms which is nice when traveling as a couple and trying to save time in the morning. Everything was clean and tidy.

Other: This hotel was much cheaper for us on the weekend than it was during the week.Breakfast is on the expensive side at 23 Euros per person so we did not try it (it wasn't a problem given the numerous places to eat just outside the door).

Spent one night here, wish it could have been more. The hotel was affordable and stylishly appointed. Excellent lighting and the windows opened so we could here musicians playing just a few yards away. Spotlessly clean and included wifi, couldn't. Have asked for more.

We originally booked two adjoining rooms (one for us and the other one for our young children). When we arrived to the hotel, we were informed that there were no adjoining rooms available. After explaining our dilemma, the front desk accommodated us with one of the hotel's suites (ended up paying less). The hotel is in a great location (about 1 - 2 blocks from the Grand Place and over looking a square). In addition, the hotel is not too far away from countless restaurants and stores. The hotel staff was extremely helpful (they provided us with directions and suggestions countless times). One more thing the hotel has free wifi.

Room Tip: Ask for a room over looking the plaza.

Let me start by saying that the location is great...in the center of Brussels and close to everything, really.

That is a positive, a pretty important positive.

The hotel is very minimalist. We had a superior room yet the room had no luggage rack, bottle opener, iron and board, bell service to help with the bags, and minibar price list. We also had to ask for more towels when we arrived because they only had one set in the bath!? It is definitely not what we expect from a 4 star hotel.

When we inquired at the front desk whether they had a luggage rack, not one of the 5 people we asked had ever heard of one!? It was just weird, trying to describe something that holds a suitcase so that one doesn't need to bend over to retrieve clothing from a suitcase lying on the floor. They actually showed me a couple of airport luggage carts in a back room and asked if that was what we were after?! A real Twilight Zone experience. I almost got out my iPad to show them images of luggage racks.

We purchased a bottle of wine and again inquired at the front desk whether they had an opener. The young man shrugged and suggested that we ask the bartender who reluctantly opened the bottle. Shouldn't there be one available in a superior room...a bottle opener, that is.

We never found a price list for the minibar but were able to obtain an iron and board after asking.

With all of these issues, we'll stay elsewhere when we return.

Dear Guest,

I highly value your detailed report on your last stay.
For sure, I am taking your comments about the service level into deepest consideration.

Concerning the luggage rack, most of rooms have one.
I would like to apologize for the misunderstanding in communication.
As you have maybe noticed, altough our staff is doing its best to communicate in english, they are not native spealers... some words may not have an obvious translation in their mother tongue. I am sincerely sorry for not having been more reactive on those points.

Thank you for having taken the time to write things down.

Hoping to welcome you soon again,

Christope Lac - General Manager

Large, comfortable, stylish room. Five minutes from Central Station and the Grand place. My only gripe was that my room was at the back and overlooked a noisy car park. See if you can get a room at the front.

Room Tip: See if you can get a room at the front of the hotel to avoid car park noise.

Hotel has perfect central location. Central railway station is within two minutes walk as well as Grand Place; metro to the Euro-area takes five minutes. The area is busy but there is not much traffic so the only outside noise to the room came from occasional delivery trucks. The decor was standard Novotel, modern and clean, nothing remarkable.
My double room was large enough with a king-sized bed, small sofa and desk with a chair. Weirdly the bed was placed so close to the bathroom door that it was difficult to shut it yet alone walk there. Bathroom door was of frosty class which I find difficult to get used to. Bathroom had a decent size bathtub and a separate shower cabin. Toilet was in a separate small room but without a washbasin which was bit complicated.
Bed was a nightmare. Mattress was so hard that it felt like sleeping on the floor. Pillows were clumpy as always in hotels but here also the duvet was clumpy. The main purpose of a hotel is to provide a place to sleep and that is why I can’t understand how most hotels fail in having decent beds.
Breakfast buffet was close to perfect, good quality food with plenty to choose from. Bacon was crispy and scrambled eggs tasted like real eggs. What I especially liked were the fresh fruits, even fruit salad was made of fresh fruits instead of the usual tinned ones. Because of the breakfast I would love to return to this hotel but until they have changed the beds I won’t bother.

The location of this hotel is great - a very easy walk from the train station with luggage. Our group of five stayed for two nights on the third floor.
The staff were very courteous and helpful. Our rooms were very clean. We all experienced a challenge trying to control the temperature of the shower, so there were several scalding showers on the first day. One of the knobs controls the flow and the other controls the temperature.
We opted to forgo the hotel breakfast for 23 euros. Found a neighborhood restaurant nearby with a breakfast special of a croissant, baguette, cheese, jam, orange juice, and coffee for 7 euros.
Would definitely stay here again.
