This hotel boasts lovely decor in the public areas but in the room we stayed in (Traditional Room, list price 495euros per night), the decor was only okay considering the price. The carpet was very badly worn (patched under the bed) and there was damp patches on the wall in some areas in the vestibule. The bathroom was lovely, roomy with adequate shower and bath, very large pedestal sink and fast flowing water. There were nice toiletries provided as well as ample fluffy white towels.
The main standout with the accommodations was how clean it was but let down by little touches that could have been easily rectified.
The twin beds were pushed together to make the king size we requested, however, kept splitting apart in the night, ending with my husband on the floor which we thought funny at the time but that said it was our wedding anniversary and slumbering in the same bed would have been quite nice.
The welcome from the staff was fairly enthusiastic and they were pleasant throughout our two night stay. We did not indulge in breakfast, dinners, room service or any extra services at all due to the prohibitive prices. Breakfast was 30euros each, a cup of coffee from room service was 5euros (or 1.80 over the road at McDonalds) and there were no coffee/tea making facilities in the room so you kind of had no choice but to venture out (MCDonalds open very late on a Sunday so don't expect an early morning coffee to be available).
I probably wouldn't stay here again as the price of things like breakfast really put me off as well as the fact the hotel was not particularly central for what we wanted to see. If shopping malls are what you want then this location is ideal but if old Brussels is more your thing along with bars and nightlife, then choose somewhere else.
It's worth mentioning that there are a few sex shops and strip clubs right across the road - weird to see these sorts of things within wolf whistling distance of a 5 star hotel but hey ho maybe I'm old-fashioned!
