We found Cirio's while walking round the Christmas market. From the pavement it looked packed and we would have normally not bothered, but we're glad we went in and we managed to find a table. You have the choice of sitting either inside or out, but as the market was literally across the pavement, it was extremely busy with people and we decided to go in.

The decor is interesting as were some of the customers. There was a real mixture of people, some dressed up and drinking champagne and others, like us, tourists, who had just gone in for a sit down and a drink. It seemed to be a place for both locals and tourists alike.

The staff were constantly on the go, and, although at one point we thought we had been forgotten, the waiter came back, knowing what we wanted. We had a drink first of all and then seeing some of the food coming out of the kitchen decided to order a beef baguette to share. It was very tasty and left us wishing we had had one each.

Traditional style 'brown' cafe with 19th century decor properly dressed waiters and lots of good Belgian beer at reasonable (for Brussels) prices. You have to go in for a beer or coffee just to savour the old style of the place .
It became very crowded and had a great atmosphere when busy. Efficient friendly staff and banter with other customers - many of whom are also tourists.
Returned a second night. Didn't eat here so can't comment on the food.

We were about to leave almost as quickly as we entered Cirio as it appeared packed to the gills, but we were informed that a table was about to become free and squeezed in amongst the happy throng. Although our waiter brought us 'brun' rather than 'blond' beer, we didn't mind and put it down to our dodgy accents rather than his shortcomings - besides it tasted marvellous.

The interior is beautiful and lots of the patrons, locals which adds to the atmosphere. Great people watching in a lively historic, bustling environment.

We didn't eat here but the food we saw on adjacent tables looked hearty and wholesome. A good afternoon spent!

As everyone say great character but we sat one evening and watched some locals eating a hearty looking stew. We asked the waiter what it was and came back the next night to try it. The beef carbonnade was delicious rich beef stew with a mass of tender lumps of beef. The waterzooi (?) was not as rich but equally tasty chicken and vegetable stew. If you like this sort of hearty home cooked dish they are highly recommended.

A treasure from Brussels' past, serving light lunches and snacks. Don't come foor the food - come for the decor, the patrons, the waiters, the tooled leather walls, the high tin ceiling and especially the long list of beers and drinks. The "half n' half" (half spumante, half dry white wine) is a fixture, as are some of the denizens.
