Owner description: Considered one of the most beautiful medieval squares in Europe, the ornate Grand Place is the center of Brussels, where many historic buildings dating from the 17th century are located.

You can't not go the Grand Place - it is exquisite and one of the most beautiful squares in Europe. But the volume of tourists is pretty overwhelming, not to mention the over priced restaurants serving sub standard food to unsuspecting tourists. I'd suggest visiting early morning or perhaps late at night when it's likely to be less crowded. That way you may actually get to appreciate the beauty of the buildings.

Amazing architecture!

You will simply not be able to decide where to look first, whichever way you look there are feasts of the eye to be had.

Simply stand in the middle of the square and slowly revolve until the street cleaner eventually pushes you out of the way!

Every building has so much detail to take in, you can easily come back here again and again and see something new.

Arrived at airport and drove here on a Wednesday morning to have a waffle. Parked at the nearby parking garage at Grasmarkt 104 and walked to Grand Place. Interesting architecture, but not much else. It was mid-April, height of spring time, but no flowers anywhere, just the cobble-stoned square. Still got lots of pictures, walked around, got a waffle, and it was an okay experience.
Made the mistake of visiting again on a Saturday night before flying out a week later. Drove to the parking garage like before, but Grasmarkt was jammed with people. Drove through the crowd to the parking garage. Walked to Grand Place which was totally jammed with people too, not just tourists. Local young kids also seem to hang out in the area on a Saturday night looking for action. We walked around a little, bought a few postcards and chocolates. I still don't get why a boy peeing merits folklore and tourist attraction status. Walked back to the parking garage to find that all the cash payment machines are broken and there is a big line at the payment office. Next there was a big line of cars inside the garage just trying to exit the garage. They were held up by the big line of cars exiting the driveway, and they were held up by the stalled traffic in the street. It was a miserable disaster getting out and was not fun or enjoyable at all. Not sure how people get there, but would not advise driving to Grand Place on a Saturday night.
