Apart from the size that it's name implises, the Grand Place is grand on many things, Grand on history and tradition, grand on beer-hauses, grand on visitors (many - many Europeans, logical if you come to thing that you're in the capital of EU, and tourists from all over the globe), grand on stores selling local handcrafted lace and embroideries but what mostly got me.... grand on chocolate stores!
Do visit the chocolate stores on and around the Grand Place for the most amazing truffles, chocolate bars, waffles, biscuits, ...... all kinds of treats. Don't skip the amazing fresh strawberries of Godiva, dipped in chocolate and offered in a cone or the cocoa powder of Neuhaus for the most fullfilling cholotate drink.
After the choco-overdose, do go to "Le Roy d'Espagne" to wash down the sweet taste with amazing beer, but I'll come to that in another review.
Then go at the corner of Rue Charles Buls and touch the statue of the sleeping lady against the wall for good luck (if you've had more than a litre of fine belgian beer it won't sound so strange)
