Owner description: Considered one of the most beautiful medieval squares in Europe, the ornate Grand Place is the center of Brussels, where many historic buildings dating from the 17th century are located.

If you are in Brussels you should visit. It's not a big square but what it lacks in size is made up by the architecture surrounding you. It's even better to see at night when the bldgs are lit up. We didn't eat there but I imagine it would've been a great place to people-watch. Btw, you'll go crazy with all the chocolate shops surrounding you.

I sat here to enjoy my sandwich and I had a great time just looking at the details of each buildings. It seems as if I could have just sat there for hours and I still would have missed little details.

Very touristy and not much to see, really, but it has a nice feel and you must at least walk-through it when in Brussels.

I somehow managed to stumble into the Grand-Place through an unassuming alley, and my breath was taken away. It is absolutely stunning, and very atmospheric - especially when a horse and cart rumbles past.

If you want to buy some local chocolate from one of the (many!) specialist retailers, you will be met with a friendly smile and helpful service.

Even though time was tight on a business trip, the place is buzzing late into the night, so you can make the most of your visit - both inside and out of work.

Visit at least twice, once in the day and again to see it transformed at night! Animal lovers beware of the man with the three adorable puppies sleeping peacefully (a little too peacefully for my liking) as they will tug at your heart strings! The people in the visitors centre are so helpful and have loads of leaflets to help plan your stay.
