Owner description: Considered one of the most beautiful medieval squares in Europe, the ornate Grand Place is the center of Brussels, where many historic buildings dating from the 17th century are located.

Great architecture to look at as you wander around. Many expensive chocolate shops and cafes to sit and watch the world go by.

I have travelled to many countries but have never seen a square as beautiful as this. The architecture of all the buildings is amazing. It is one of Brussels Places of great beauty with superb Bars and Restaurants within a few minutes walk.

Grand-Place attracts crowds like any central square in any city: impressive architecture, good restaurants to cater for any taste and purse, tremendous chocolate and tapestry shops. And omnipresent Manneken is only a couple of blocks from here! Why it’s a must at Christmas? There’s a crib or crèche, as they call it, adding to overall festive atmosphere. At night they amuse visitors with a magic music-light show on the two tallest buildings. Christmas fair, named Brussels Winter Wonders, is located in the other area, in order not to destroy aristocratic air of Grand-Place, in my view. Yet, the place looks and sounds very holiday and happy!

To see the flower designs with any sort of perspective you need to get onto one of the balconies of the surrounding buildings (charge applies), as from ground level it just looks like a load of plant pots side by side (which I suppose is what it is).
Disappointing.
A bi-annual event which took place in 2012.

Great architecture on four sides makes this large open space fairly impressive. The actual inside of biuildings are a little disappointing.
Shops and restaurants around the square are average and expensive.
The tourist information office is also poor for a major capital city.
The appeal fades after a couple of visits, with both Bruges and Leuven having superior main squares.
