“Cute museum but could be better”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 7, 2013

The building and its history are quite impressive. Inside you have a cozy spot for a beer after a quick museum visit. However, the museum does not offer much value for money. Aside from some brewing equipment used in the 18th century and a few other pieces, there is a film. I was expecting more information about the history of belgian beer and types of beer. You learn some of this if you sit through the 15 minute film. The admission fee essentially covers the beer. This could be a great small museum if there was a little bit more or if information was better presented. I struggled between rating this poor or average. We did, however, have a nice time and enjoyed a beer.

“Not worth it”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 26, 2013

€10 to watch a short film and have beer, just not worth it. Spend your time and half the money on a beer (probaly overpriced) in a cafe on the Grand Place instead, you will feel better for it.

“Not much”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 18, 2013

Being honest and blunt, the 5Eu entrance fee is essentially for the beer you receive at the end. As you enter to the right you pay the bartender and are given a brochure and told to go in and watch the film, look in the demo room and then return for a beer. There is no guide, no demonstrator, just a film -- which is somewhat informational. You can look at the vats and process described but there's not much here. Frankly, I'd rather pay 5Eu for the same beer on the Grand Place and be able to people watch at the same time.

“Total waste of time”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 16, 2013

The Brewers Guild is one of the impressive buildings on the Grand Place. However, the museum is a total waste of time. It is a self-guided tour of two basement rooms that show examples of equipment used in 18th century and then modern brewing. When you come in you hand over 5 Euro before you realise that you have already seen half the 'museum' as the bar/front room is in fact the 18th century exhibition. The modern brewing section is a tiled room with stainless steel equipment and a terrible film that is incomprehensible as there is no narration (on screen or audio). The very small saving grace is that you get a beer included, although it is not anything special and is not a named Belgian beer just generic "abbey beer" (incidentally a name that has no recognised status in Belgian brewing). Take a picture from the outside and move on - you can learn more about Belgian beer by finding a bar on a quiet side street with a knowledgeable barman.

“So bad, You'll need a drink.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 20, 2013

We should really have known better, but had an hour to kill and needed a drink.
This is not, repeat not, a museum. Just two rooms full of clutter. One room old clutter, the other new. Shocking film playing.
Barman too busy chatting to pals to do a proper tasting.
Don't know how they get away with this. Do yourself a favour and go to the pub instead.
