Owner description: Nicknamed "Brussel's Oldest Citizen," this bronze statue of a little boy and a fountain was designed by Jerome Duquesnoy in 1619, and has become a familiar (and irreverent) symbol of the city.

Just crowd-watching here makes the trip worthwhile. I always bring friends to visit MP when in Brussels. Whether the boy is dressed in costume or not, the tourists have a wonderful time taking photos of what must have been at one time a scandalous piece of art to foreign, more conservative cultures.

I mean, c'mon people!

Just a small statue, a peeing boy, dressed in all kinds of costumes all year long, what are all the tourists there looking for? And the whole area/street is just full of crap stores... if that's what you're looking for in Brussels, there's something wrong...

This is of course one of the "landmarks" of Brussels but I for cannot understand why adults also flock to this. A very small statue of a boy urinating isn't a good sight but there it is. When we were there there was a hoard of young boys having their picture taken in front of the barrier that keeps the statue from being "molested". There was an equally large group of giggling and screaming young and teenage girls "enjoying" the spectacle. Whether it truly represents the irreverent spirit of Brussels is debatable. There are many other examples of that nevertheless here it is and people flock to see it.

Packed with tourists, tatty shops selling copies of the little widdler and waffle shops. Best avoided. The streets are not good for wheelchair access. The only good thing is that it is free.

You think that you will find an incredible statue and something really amazing and you find a really tiny thing. Is that small that as a souvenir, a replica can be found in all stores as you can bring it home! I expected something different.
