On arriving in Brussels, we immediately went searching for moules et frites. Sadly we found this place.
From the outside and indeed when we entered it looked just the sort of place we had been looking for. The waitress was hospitable and promptly took our order. Eventually, after more than 30 minutes (there were 2 other tables who arrived after us who were already on their second course) our mussels arrived. I can only guess they had been cooking since we ordered them as they were overcooked and totally shrivelled up?
Worse was yet to come, in the shape of the bill. The most expensive mussels in Brussels! ( yes I did obsessively check several other menus!).

A really disappointing meal.

This is a small cosy restaurant tucked away but well worth a visit. There is only the chef and the waiter there but they are friendly and the food served is very good and of a high quality and presented very well. The house wine was also tasty. Reasonably priced.

Well, everything was different here.
The owner/chef/waiter/dish washer greeted us warmly saying: "Seat wherever you want"...
After a while he asked what we want, but we didn't have the menu.
Forget the menu!
Just describe what would you want.
He will make ir taste better then you dreams.
My wife wanted mules, but owner said that he forgot to buy them...
She had shrimps with garlic bread, and had fillet, perfectly done.
Before the main dish we had salmon sandwiches and extremely fresh salad.
The owner is very funny, he seems to be very talented chef, sometimes he forgets what he was doing, but u just can't be angry.
Overall: We had simple but VERY tasty food, portions are just enough, and a little more :-)
Prices are a bit high, but well worth it.
Will post pictures of our dishes.

Really, incredibly special place. The owner and the waiter were both so funny and warm and welcoming. It's hard being in a foreign country, not speaking the language and going to a tiny little cafe. You never know how people will react to you... Well, here I can promise you it will be with a warm smile, open arms and a recommendation for the best thing cooking that day. The chef and the waiter chatted us up. They even had English menus.

We had an amazing wine with dinner. 3 of us, each got the 3 course dinner. This tiny place was packed and unfortunately we saw them have to turn away a few sad souls because of being overfull.

Side note: I still think often about how delicious the escargot was here... Garlicky, buttery, heavenly goodness.
