We have arrived to Brussels around 9.30pm, 7 people in total and kind of hungry after travelling. We went out from the hotel and were talking, where to go. Opposite of the hotel, we saw this restaurant, only 1 person seating at the terrace. The owner came to us and asked us, if we would like to eat something, he is about to close, but he can accomodate us and he can make us a special price for 3-course menu. The decision was made.
They prepared the table for 7 people in a minute. The food was very delicious, we could even choose from more type of startes or main courses. We took as a starte home made "paté", just yummy. Guess, what we had as main course?... very difficult, steak with pommes frittes :) very good medium prepared pepper steak.
They have made beautiful atmosphere there and it was just perfect for tired tourist, who just wanted to eat something and than go to bed :)
Our bill for 7 people was 170 eur, so you can easily count that this was absolutely worthed to eat at this restaurant.
I really recommend this restaurant, if you ever visit Brussels and will be somewhere near. It is at the corner and it is just nice :)
Thank you very much for your service, atmosphere and food.

The Chef is simply a man who loves to cook, everything is lovingly prepared from scratch. Home made pate and compotes to accompany, mushooms in a garlic and herb mojo, salmon just pink on the inside, the sole was quite exquisite. This is a small restaurant with a unique view on the gastronomic experience. Very nice friendly service, language no problem, even indulged my very bad french... We will return.

Food was excellent! We highly recommend this place.
The salmon was to die for (never had it with peppercorn sauce before, definitely will again!) and the pork and apple main course was delicious. Service was friendly and the bill, including wine and beer was less than €70. A good night out in a lovely setting by the church. The owner sat with us and chatted a while and was explaining how he enjoyed to cook, but was suffering due to the austerity issues. He said that he wanted to retire soon, so get to this place quick before he goes!

The four of us found this restaurant out of the blue while walking in the Ste. Catherine area on Saturday 3rd August. While looking at the menu the owner, who we now know is 75 and Serbian, came to talk to us. He recommended the 15 euro Plate du jour. We all had pate - superb ; followed by two steaks and two salmon dishes - superb. One flan caramel and three cheese plates followed - superb. Good wine, lovely service and interesting conversation from the chef. So good we thought we would go back Sunday 4th August.

What a disappointment. The chef was on his own - the very efficient waitress who was working the night before was not there, instead he told us his electrician was helping out!!!. The starters came out ok.Three of us ordered from the same menu and one wanted mussels. We got two orders of mussels; fries and two steaks served on side plates - no vegetables. It came out in sporadic bursts so much so we couldn't guarantee when the next course was coming, so we shared each others. We tried to get wine, as it was not offered and the only dessert option was chocolate mousse. He turned up the telly so loud that we couldn't hear each other - we thought this was a cue that we should leave.

We were prepared to cut him a bit of slack as he was effectively on his own. To be honest we thought we were being set up and there was a secret camera filming us and someone would pop up and tell us we had been on tv. The final straw came at the end when we asked how much we owed and he said 'I don't know - say 140 euros'. After a challenge he halved the price of the mussels tried to tell us that the steaks were entrecote and suggested that we had had wine. We paid him what we thought it was worth. It was a shame because the food was still very good. I think maybe the old man's restaurant days are behind him.

I have visited this restaurant many times before when on businesss in Brussels. This time i took my wife and friends. It certainly didnt disappoint. It is located in Place du Samedi near to St Catherine's church. Starters were excellent (especially the rocquefort cheese and bacon salad) and very reasonably priced. The "spitroast" is my firm favourite, whilst my wife raved about the salmon. The owner is certainly a character and I look forward to my next meal there in the near future. What a fantastic place
