“What a fun place - grand finale of our trip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 7, 2012

It was a bit challenging to find this place - we ended up on the wrong street and we just followed my GPS from there; and there isn't an obvious sign up front either. The address was right so we walked in and found ourselves in a casual, neighborhood bar type of restaurant - inside it finally said "Fin de Siecle" so I knew we're at the right place.

After sitting at a table by the wall and ordering local beer (amazing 2.10EUR each) we took turns to go look at the menu board behind the bar. The man at the cash register looked kind of rough but it turned out he was very sweet and helpful explaining the menu items with perfect English. My friend ordered the traditional Sausage & mashed potato dish and I decided to try jumbo shrimp with baked potato and salad. As we enjoyed our beer and the bread every time waiter/waitress go by with the food we would look at them and look at each other because they looked huge and delish. Luckily we got there early around 7:15pm so we didn't have to wait to be seated but after ordering our food I noticed the place was full and there's a line of people waiting for a table. Though super busy with floor-full of people and only 3 wait staff on Sat night the service was reasonably fast and very friendly. The waitress brought our second beer and dinner - oh joy! Our dinner looked, smelled and tasted so good, full of home-made flavor. We sampled each other's food and finished with ice cream dessert with hot chocolate sauce - sweet happy ending.

A few things to keep in mind:
-The restrooms were located downstairs and the steps were very narrow.
-Apparently this is a very popular place so it could get a bit loud and tables were very close to the one next & behind, so this may not be an ideal spot for a "romantic dinner."
-Bring appetite: they serve generous portion of great tasting meal at very reasonable price.
-You can try to arrive early to avoid the wait

Bon appetit!!

“Great Belgian fayre!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 6, 2012

My husband and I just had dinner at this restaurant tonight - the food is delicious - hearty, served in generous portions and authentically Belgian. We struggled a bit in the beginning as the menu is only in French and is on a huge board beside the bar, but our very basic French resulted in two amazingly delicious dishes: Gammon shank in mustard sauce (jambon) and 21-day dry aged steak (encrote). The meats of both dishes were tender and juicy and cooked just right.

The restaurant's ambience is noisy and jovial - it's like being part of a big family reuinion eating a home-cooked meal. Prices are very reasonable, especially for the quality and quantity. The steak which came with salad and jacket potato was €19, while the gammon was €18. Belgian beers are very cheap, too!

By the time we finished our meal, the queue to get a table in the restaurant snaked outside the restaurant so go early to avoid the queues. And finally, go to the cash machine before going to the restaurant - payment is cash only.

“One of my favourites”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 3, 2012

Find de Siecle has amazingly delicious Belgian favourites at a great price. The place always has a cozy atmosphere with dinners from every age group and social group. The service is also really friendly and fast. One of my favourite places for a late dinner before a big night out.

“place you shouldn't miss”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 3, 2012

This vibrant, busy, noisy bar is a graet place for a bear, drink that also serves good food in a decent price. The atmosphere is grat - very unformal with a bit of hippster style. Service is good and friendly. Tables outside get occupied quickly during summer evenings ( so better to get there before 8 pm ) Menu is simple with some traditional belgian dishes plus salds, fish/seefood and kinds of quiche. portions are quite big compering with the prices.
Don't miss it during your ramble around Brussels.

“A Belgian Favorite”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 30, 2012

This place is small but definitely worth the wait. They serve Belgian food and their selection is crammed onto this board located right next to the bar. Definitely try the jambon - it's big and incredibly delicious paired with a good beer!
