We booked this hotel on a whim. The location was perfect and close to everything we wanted to see. The room was clean and very quiet. Parking was available. We did not have breakfast because it seemed rather pricey. Overall it was a satisfying stay.

Dear Guest,

We thanks you for the nice comments you left on this site. I have shared them with the colleagues!

We also thank you for informing others about the parking, as not many hotels in the haert of the city centre dispose of their own underground parking with direct acces to the hotel.

Breakfast is not that expensive we think. If you book it in advance, or upon check in, we offer a full buffet breakfast with the best confiture in the world at only 15€. Do not hesitate to book it when you come to Brussels again. I am sure you will taste that we offer excellent value for money!

Friendly regards,

From Central station, it's a lot of exits but without the signs. in the beginning, I don't know so many exits, I followed traffic then leaded me to the a lot of hotels but far from Sandton Brussels Centre, I had asked around and finally know the direction to lead me uphill, then I had asked around to find the hotel, because the sign of hotel is invisible.
My advise:
1 be caution before leaving train station, you need to go to metro station direction then exit, hotel is just in the corner of metro station, otherwise, it's long way and uphill to the hotel;
2 once you use to the metro system, hotel location is OK;
3 for visit Grand Place area or out for eat, hotel location just so so, it's a lot of hotels in the better location;
4 this hotel is not 4 star hotel;
5 the fruits in bow location in the front desk to guests.
6 I had booked two twin beds for my son and me, the twin beds are just look like a kind bed, no gap between the beds;
7 no kettles in the room, can not boil water for tea or caffee.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for these constructive comments.

Yes, you are right. Some hotels are closer to the Grand Place. Our hotel is however at only a 5-minute walk. The advantage is that the rooms are very quiet.

Concerning the distance from the central station: you can also exit at the main entrance of the station. Go to the right at the exit, than after 50 metres look at the left and you can see the hotel 100 metres further, next to the new oval office building. It takes only 2 minutes walking.

Most of our rooms have double beds, some are twins. Indeed, these beds are single beds. Besides the standard rooms our hotel also disposes of 11 Mega Fabulous Rooms. These rooms are larges and offer extra facilities like brand new Nespresso machines with different tastes of coffee, bath robes and complementary mineral water.

We are looking forward seeing welcoming you again for your next stay in Brussels,

Best regards,

We booked the Sandton in Brussels Centre based on reviews from Tripadvisor, mainly because of its close proximity to the Metro at Gare Centrale and the price was the best in that range of hotels.

As we arrived late in the evening we took a taxi from Gare du Midi where the coach from Charleroi Airport left us. The taxi run was about 15 minutes and cost €10. If we could have had a detailed map showing precisely which turn to take on leaving the Metro Station, Gare Centrale, this would not have been necessary. On leaving, we also booked at taxi for 6 a.m. and it took just 5 minutes to Gare du Midi.

The staff were efficient and courteous. The beds comfortable, the whole place very quiet.

As reviewers on Tripadvisor had warned of the high cost of breakfast at the Sandton,€20 per person, we brought our own travel kettle and some stuff for a light breakfast in bed. The room was adequate, with frig.

If we had to look for a way to improve the hotel, we would say the floor of the shower could have had some protection from slipping, and there was no grab-rail within reach. Otherwise the bathroom was large and had everything including complimentary gels and shampoo, lovely towels etc.

We could not get BBC on the TV, but did not really need it. We did not need to use the WiFi during the short time we were there. A fire alarm in the ceiling had a small green light that flashed all night, which did not disturb us, but some people might not like.

We had arranged for a friend to meet us at the hotel for an evening meal, and as the hotel has no restaurant, we went out to look for some place nearby. We had no time during the day to locate somewhere suitable, and failed to find anything like what we expected. We had a meal that was just about o.k. at a "brasserie" on the nearby corner at the Metro exit, called L'Excelsior. While they were very nice to us, and went out of their way to give us what we wanted, we would have preferred something better. If we had asked at the Hotel they would probably have advised us where to find what we had hoped for.

As noted by other reviewers, we had to pay the local tax to the hotel on checking out. This is a nuisance.

About arriving at Charleroi, on a previous occasion we had found that the vending machine for the coach to Brussels would only accept Credit Cards, so on this occasion we pre-booked online on the Elan Line Coach, for the same price (€22 per person return). We had to decide when booking which time would suit us, but we arrived in time for an earlier coach and the driver did not make any difficulty about taking us.

Room Tip: Ours was facing an office block but as we were out all day that did not matter to us. It was away fr...

Dear Mrs Smyth,

Thanks you very much for these positive, complete and constructive comments. Please be assured that I will share your nice words with the team.

Please be informed that our full buffet breakfast is already avaialble at 15€ if you reserve it upon check in or in advance. This is below the average of the 4* star hotels in Brussels. You have found a nice alternative yourself however. We hope you enjoyed it!

Please do not hesitate to contact us directly via sandton.eu for your next visit to Brussels!

Within walking distance of train and city center. Quiet. It is true that the view is not good and carpet/walls showing a little wear, but we were good with it. The breakfast was good. Staff was helpful. The armoire in the room was small, not big enough for a few days clothing for two, but room to leave your luggage on the floor. Parking- we used the train/shopping area parking. It was not expensive. We would stay here again... location, location, location.

Dear guest,
Thank you very much for your nice comments about our staff, the breakfast and the location next to the central station and only a short walk from the Grand Place.
You are right, some walls in some rooms need some fresh paint. This is underway as we finished the corridors today. Next are some of the walls in some rooms.
We hope welcoming you back soon and I would be happy if you could reserve directly in the hotel, referring to me and this comment. I would be happy welcoming you personally!

I stayed in a suite on the top floor, with was pleasant despite the terrible 'view' of an office block taking up all the window.

For a 'luxury' hotel, it had curiously poor guest servies. The front of house is inadequately staffed, many people were frustrated by one man the phone ignoring the guests waiting to get answers in front of him

My suite had a dining table, but there is no room service food, no hotel restaurant, and nothing in the minibar but a bottle of water How would I entertain?

The 'Flat Screen TV' has no MENU offering offer services like wake up calls, or movies, or music or internet access, just a few local programmes in Dutch and German.

Beds were made up, not not turned down.

As a general gripe, hotel showers that pretend to be 'wet rooms' generally replace a useful shower curtain with a inadequate piece of glass, and make the floor of the shower level with the rest of the bathroom. Result, constant flooding of the bathroom.

And I'd like bed so it's ready for me to get into, not folded up tooo high, with a silly astrip of cloth across at the end.

clould a lot better

Dear guest,
We thank you for having stayed in our hotel and your remarks on our guest services.
In our 70 rooms hotel we always foresee at least one receptionist and one colleague to keep the bar and help the receptionist. Sometimes however, it can happen that we have to pick up the phone and check in guests at the same time. We try to help each guest immediately, but sometimes it’s just a little busy. We are sorry you had to wait a while.
As we are perfectly located next to the central station and the Grand Place, we have chosen not to operate our own restaurant, like many city centre hotels. This is also clearly written on our website, like the fridge in the room with minibar service in at the reception of the hotel. The bottle of water was kindly offered.
Turndown service is not offered neither in our hotel, but our beds are very good. We often get compliments about the quality of the bedding. We do hope you slept well.
Dear guest, we hope seeing you back once more in our hotel, despite the fact that we do not offer the services you expected. We think that we offer excellent value for money and are more than willing to fill up the minibar upon request and to reserve a good restaurant at walking distance from our hotel.
Friendly regards,
Peter Hesp

The hotel is located in center, walking distance to all main attractions. It was really nice to walk around without worrying about where to park our car. The room was ok, good breakfast, staff was useful with providing directions and the map. It was a bit difficult to find the parking for the hotel though when we arrived, we had to make at least three circles around the block, until I went to hotel reception and asked for help.

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for the friendly comments on this site. I copied your comments to our staff and thanked them for the good service we supplied.

We are very happy the we dispose of our own underground parking with direct acces to the hotel and I understand your point. Although the parking's entrance is next to the hotel's entrance, you cannot recognice it as such. I will make sure that our logo with the word parking will display on the door soon.

Once more, thanks for your friendly and constructive comments. We are looking foreward welcoming you back soon. For reservations please do not hesitate to book directly via our own site sandton.eu.

A much better than expected hotel. New and clean, the hotel as well as the room. A large room, large anough for a family of twelve although we were only two. At 3 steps from the St-Michel Cathedral, at 2 steps from the central train station where you can take a train, for almost nothing, to go to Anvers, Bruges, Namur, Gant, even to Ostende on the North Sea. You are also at 4 streets from the Grote Market. The furniture inside the room is modest but sufficient. Not all the luxury of a 5 stars hotel but the same comfort at a least price and at a better location than any.
