“Great apartment style rooms”
Reviewed June 3, 2013

This hotel has the best rooms I've stayed in during my month long trip around Europe. We were 3 in a 4 person room and we felt like we were in an apartment. Our room was spread across 3 floors with one bedroom/living room with a plasma TV and cable. The other one is in the basement with a really comfortable king sized bed. There is a router for wifi in the room, they provide towels, soap, shampoo, some utensils and dishes (those were dirty though, so we had to clean them before using them). The toilet is in a different room than the shower, which ended up being a good thing as one of us liked to shower for a long time. I would recommend staying there, but don't expect a hotel nor a hostel experience. Also there are a lot of prostitutes on the streets surrounding the hotel, but they never talked to us, we just found it funny.

Hotel was a short walk from central station and about a 10 min walk to the square. The room was spacious and had a little kitchenette. It was clean and great value for money. The street it was on as all other reviews said was occupied by ladies of the night (or morning) as they were always there, but as other reviewers have stated that don't bother you at all. For 55 euro a night I thought it was a bargin. Big, clean, comfortable and secure. I would stay there again.

The good:
New and fresh rooms, mostly friendly staff, 3 minute walk to metro station.

The bad:
Heating didn't work at first - a plumber was eventually sent up at about 7pm but only partially fixed it - not much fun when even the days are a max of 11!
Hot water in shower - 1mm one way is freezing, 1mm the other way was scalding hot. Impossible to get and keep a good temperature. Water pressure also very weak.
They use a single size duvet put sideways on a double bed, with a thin blanket put at the feet, so your feet are cold and it's not particularly comfortable.
Toilet seat was completely broken off, this was fixed after we advised (although you would think housekeeping would notice this before someone sits on it).
Two TV remotes and no satellite remote - notifying staff produced no result.
Light fittings in bedroom on top floor room (so only if on top floor) stick out with sharp edges at 5'11" - maybe fine for most, but not nice at 2am when you're 6' tall and smash your head into it.

Good/bad/indifferent (depending on your perspective):
Although the staff say this is not the red light district, there are prostitutes standing on the streets all around here 24/7... they don't look too trashy and they are quiet, so they didn't bother us at all.

Room Tip: Not on the top floor.

This hotel was great for the price! The hotel was clean and simple, exactly what we needed. Room: The room had three single beds which was actually great to each have our own to sleep on. Location: Although it is in the red light district, I would not let this prevent you from staying here. The girls on the street are quiet and keep to themselves, pretty much all they do is stand around so if there weren't so many of them you wouldn't even know what they were doing! One of them actually helped us find the hotel! You can easily walk from the hotel to the grand place which is a huge plus! Service: We were really impressed with the service we received, they spoke English very well, agreed to store our luggage for the day we checked out and even returned a necklace that I had left in the room without even knowing it.

The Theater Hotel is a hotel in the red light district of the Brussel city. During the day, in the area, there are many prostitutes, these are more discreet during the day than by night. The hotel is very welcoming, the hall is modern, coloured and the staff is fast and helpful. The check-in is fast, the staff infact requires only the documents of the reservation's holder.
The bedrooms are very cute, well furnished and in each room there is a small kitchen with glasses, dishes, servers and even the wine glasses. We were five, divided in two rooms, one suite and one triple. The suite had a Jacuzzi but the triple had a shower instead. The area is a little noisy but all things considered acceptable. The cost of the rooms is only 130 euro.

I stayed in this hotel for business and have to say it was my worst experience of a Brussels hotel. I knew it was in the red light district but was not prepared for the sight of prostitutes plying their trade openly all along the street. This meant there were police raids during the evening. Definitely not a hotel for families or women on their own. The hotel corridor to my room smelled overpoweringly of dirty nappies. The suite itself was furnished with shabby furniture and the white walls were filthy. The beds were twins but there was no space between them.

On the positive side the bed clothes were clean, the staff were very courteous and it is 2mins walk from a metro. However, this is not a place I can recommend.

Definitely a great stay. An easy walk to lots of restaurants and not too far from the Grand Palace. Don't get discouraged if you read that its in the 'red light district' of Brussels. Although this is very true, it didn't make a difference at all. It didn't feel sketchy or unsafe and the 'ladies' were very friendly and helpful. It was a quiet street, and the staff we very helpful.
