Le Vaudeville - Chambres d'Hotes
Ranked #21 of 212 Brussels B&B and Inns
Reviewed September 18, 2013

I stayed in Le Vaudeville for three nights as part of an extended break to Bruges and Brussels. The location of Le Vaudeville appealed most and I was not disappointed. Based inside Galerie de la Reine, the B&B is a 5 minute walk from the Grand Place and the central train station. It was a perfect location from which to explore the Belgian capital.

The positives were the aforementioned location and the stylish rooms. Upon our welcome, we were upgraded to the Diva room as we were warned about a party taking place at the private hire Theatre de Vaudeville next door which was set to be very noisy. The room was smart and clean, with a roll top bath, massive shower and a welcoming present of chocolate. The free drinks – including Belgian beers – in the Smeg fridge were also a very welcome bonus!

That said, there were downsides which are worth mentioning. The bed in the room was not particularly comfortable and, being so central, the noise from the Galerie would certainly annoy a light sleeper – the noise of the party did reach us in the end as well! The room had the tendency to get incredibly warm too as the Galerie that surrounds it acts like a greenhouse. Whilst it was fine for our visit because it was quite cool and rainy, a visit in the height of summer might be too much. The breakfasts were good and plentiful – the highlight being the artisan preserves on offer, but the fact that cooking anything like bacon or eggs was do-it-yourself left us a bit self-conscious. The electric hobs took an age to warm up too so cooking in the end really wasn’t worth it. Getting hold of the owners who didn’t speak much English, Thiery and Christophe, was always a bit tricky – even for things like toilet paper - too so make sure your mobile works abroad if you visit and practice your French!

Overall, I enjoyed my visit. The location is perfect and there’s plenty to like about Le Vaudeville. Having someone on hand a bit more often would probably have bumped this review up a notch.

I stayed in Galeries at the start of September for what must be the fifth time. It's just the sexiest place to stay in Brussels. The location is incomparable and Thierry and Christophe are si sympa. Amazing breakfast, free beer and chocolate and history coming out of its ears. Unbeatable.

We had a great time in Brussels and the location this B&Bis awesome, but it is hard to find, being behind an unlabeled locked door. You have to be able to call to get in and my phone did not work. None of the shopkeepers near knew about the B&B (one told us it had closed 3 months earlier!) and if we hadn't miraculously seen someone leaving who called up for us we would never have gotten in. Luckily we were able to get help and call. The owners brother, Christophe, let us in and was very nice, but we did not speak French which was a major handicap. We were there 3 nights and never saw the proprietor or his brother again until it was time to check out. Fortunately another guest was Irish and could tell us how to use the coffee maker at breakfast which was nice bread and fruit. If you are hoping to interact with the owner of the inn to get restaurant suggestions, this will not happen. Our room had a "courtyard view" which was a brick wall and a glass ceiling from next door- one could not see the ground, but it was clean and comfortable. Perfect, beautiful location, but much better if you speak some French and make sure you have a functioning phone.

Great location in the Galerie de la Reine. We felt very much at home in the nice and quiet 'black and white' room at the back of the building. Coffee (nespresso), tea and chocolates are provided and there is a fridge in the hall with drinks that you can take without extra charge. Thierry and Christophe are wonderful hosts and take their time to help you. Breakfast is cosy, we had a nice chat with the other guests at the common breakfast table. Christophe also showed us the 'Diva' room, that is bigger and quite spectaculair with a wonderful view to the gallery, a statue in front of the window and a great bath tub. For a longer stay I might choose that one. Being at the front it is noisier, but ear plugs are provided.

Excellent view on the gallerie de la reine, at walking distance of a lot of stores and restaurants. Spacy and clean accommodation: large bed, television, large bathroom! Thierry is a very gentle host! Breakfast is very nice with artisinally made jam of Belgium. We would definitely recommend B&B Vaudeville to anyone willing to stay in heart of Brussels in a romantic-historical place.

We chose the vaudeville for a romantico gateaway and we weren't disappointed at all.
The location is perfect, the B&B is located in the beautiful "gallery de la reine", All the tourist attractions are reachable in less than a five minutes walk : the grand place, manneken pis, as well as the central station. The B&B is right in the center of Brussels, what I really enjoyed is that as you can imagine it is very busy during the day but extremely quiet at night.
we stayed in the black&white room, a spacious, cosy and super well decorated room, with lots of details that we could admire.
AND to top it all off the breakfast was amazing !!!
Don't hesitate a moment to book it !! I highly recommend the place!

We stayed in this great place for our first night in Europe. It had an amazing location only a block away from the central train station in the beautiful Galeries Royale. Thierry was a fabulous host and took us on a tour of the old theatre as well as an underground art exhibit. He was truly exceptional. The room itself had this unbelievable bathroom that was as large as a large bedroom with a claw foot tub, a cool shower and very modern look. The breakfast setting was so beautiful I almost did not want to eat so that it would not get messed up. The food that was provided was top notch. We would highly recommend this place if you are visiting Brussels.
